Make your financial resolutions

If you're like many people, you've made some New Year's resolutions.
Perhaps you've vowed to go the gym more often, or learn a new language or reconnect with long-lost friends. All these are worthy goals, of course, but at the same time, you don't want to neglect one of the most important areas of your life – your finances.
So this year, why not make some financial resolutions? Here are a few to consider:

  • Stick with quality. During turbulent times, quality investments are your best bet for "weathering the storm." If you're buying stocks, look for those companies that have long track records of profitability, strong management teams, competitive products and solid business plans. If you're considering bonds, find the ones that have received the highest ratings from the independent rating agencies. Finally, be patient, disciplined and forward-looking. The investment world has taken some knocks lately, but good investment opportunities are still out there.
