Frances Ramsey Abbott

Frances Ramsey Abbott, 79, of Phil Campbell, Ala., departed this walk of life to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, October 25, 2008.
A 1 p.m. memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008 at Akins Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Barnett officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Abbott; son, Michael Shane Abbott; granddaughter, infant Kricket Kempf; parents, John and Hazel Ramsey; sister, Mildred Grimes; and brothers, Glen Ramsey and Harry Baxter.
She is survived by a son, Alan Nunnely; daughters, Loretta Habner and Paula Weems; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved her grandchildren and loved to fish.

Thomas "Tom" Martin Jr.

Thomas "Tom" Walter Martin Jr., 83, of Trussville, Ala., went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 at his home.
He was formerly a longtime resident of Spruce Pine and Russellville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Trussville. He was a past member of the Spruce Pine Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and served with the youth.
He proudly served his country during World War II from 1943 to his honorable discharge in May 24, 1946. He was discharged with the rank of Aviation Metalsmith Petty Officer Second Class. In his early years he worked at the Alabama Limestone Company in Rockwood as a draftsman. He later was a sales representative for the Liberty National Insurance Company where he served the Franklin County area until retirement. When he moved to the Birmingham area, he worked for Garner Stone Company as a draftsman in Center Point. His hobbies were golf and woodworking.
The funeral service was Oct. 24 at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Roger Martin of Spruce Pine officiating. Music was provided by his grandson, Martin "Marty" Bostick, a violinist who played "Amazing Grace." Judy Taylor, soloist, sang "In the Garden," and Paulette Markham was the pianist.
Pallbearers were Dallas Bostick, Andrew Bostick, Bobby Montgomery, Dondi Montgomery, Lee Rogers and Paul Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Jackson and Jerry Taylor. Burial followed at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Pauline "Polly" Martin of Trussville; daughter, Peggy Bostick and husband Mike of Trussville; sister, Virginia Lawler of Russellville; grandson, Martin Damon Bostick and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Sandra Pierce Bostick, Dallas Michael Bostick and Andrew Martin Bostick, all of Moody; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Regina Martin Lobello; his parents, Thomas Walter "Walt" Martin Sr. and Katherine "Kate" Martin; sister, Jewell Martin Taylor and husband Grady; brothers, Hugh Lester Martin and wife Leeotia and Robert "Bob" Burton Martin and wife Berta; and special nephew, Glenn Russell Lawler.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Fannie Eron Cole

Fannie Eron Cole, 90, of Haleyville, Ala., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008 at Lakeland Community Hospital. She was a retired seamstress from Haleyville Textile, a member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church and a member of Jolly Rovers.
The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Ervin Smith and Tony Preston officiating. Burial was in Winston Memorial Cemetery in Haleyville.
She is survived by her brothers, Hoyt F. Preston and Hubert R. Preston, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Sara Jane Preston; husband, Hosea G. Cole; sister, Vista Taylor; and brothers, Lofton Preston, John Beura "JB" Preston, Brandon Preston and Ellis Preston.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
