Many of the fans at Friday night's Russellville football game will be in the stands to watch a match up of ranked teams while others will attend to see another curiosity – instant replay.
The Golden Tigers are will debut a new scoreboard which features a screen measuring 18 feet wide by 10 feet tall that will show replays of what happened on the field.
"We thought it would enhance the entertainment experience," said Russellville coach Doug Goodwin. "We can also use it for graduation and Relay for Life."
The scoreboard is the first of its kind at a high school football stadium.
Goodwin said there are a few fields that have replay capabilities – like the Hoover Met where Hoover High School plays some of its games – but none of those facilities are located on a high school campus.
Discussions about the scoreboard began last winter and several sponsors have made attaining the new addition possible.
"CB&S Bank fronted us the money and we will be able to pay them back through advertising money over the next few years," Goodwin said. "Other sponsors include Guthrie's, Coca-a-Cola, Family Ford, State Farm-Lanny Norris, Senator (Roger) Bedford and CVS Pharmacy."
