10-11 All-Stars win 16-1, advance to finals

SHEFFIELD – The Russellville 10-11 All-Stars are one win away from repeating as district champions after cruising past Sheffield 16-1 during the District 6 tournament at Sheffield Youth Park Wednesday.
Russellville led 10-0 after the first inning thanks to five walks and five hits, including a leadoff ground-rule double from Hunter Kiel and a two-run triple by Micah Fleming.
Russellville went ahead 12-0 in the the bottom of the second inning on a sacrifce fly by Dylan Mansell to score Blake Bendall and an RBI single by Nick Hicks to bring around Hunter Greenhill.
Russellville scored four more runs in the bottom of the third as Jacob Bynon hit a two-run shot over the left field fence, Mansell had an RBI walk and Kiel hit an RBI single.
Sheffield's lone run came in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI single by Kenny Hamm to score Brandon Yarbrough, who reached on a leadoff triple.
Russellville, which used a five-pitcher no-hitter to defeat Phil Campbell 9-3 Tuesday in the tournment opener, finished with 11 hits and nine walks. The Golden Tiger pitching rotation of Fleming, Bynon, Tristen Moore and Zach Garrison combined for 11 strikeouts while allowing only two hits and one run in four innings.
