Local facing gun charges. Burnel Massey

Burnel Massey, 69, of Vina, went to be with Jesus on April 25, 2008.
He was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. He was born Feb. 2, 1939, in Alabama to Clarence and Olar Oliver Massey. He was employed by the city of Red Bay and was the owner and operator of Massey Backhoe.
He was a member of Pleasant Ridge #1 Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, O'Neal Massey, and a daughter, Shelia Diane Massey.
Funeral services were held April 27, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Eugene Digby officiating. Burial was in Old Burleson Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Nellie Massey, of Vina; two sons, Johnny Wayne Massey, of Maryville, Tenn., and Alvin G. Massey, of Melbourne, Fla.; two daughters, Rose Frederick, of Fulton, Miss., and Sharon Cox, of Melbourne, Fla.; two stepsons, Jay Musgrove, of Russellville, and Daniel Guthrie, of Sarasota, Fla.; four step-daughters, Frances Moore, of Tuscumbia, Janie Forester, of Waterloo, Elizabeth Rodriguez, of Madison, and Tina Isbell, of Russellville; 12 grandchildren, eight grandchildren, two sisters, Brenda Hammock and Joleen Patterson, both of Red Bay.
Pallbearers were Alvin Massey, Mark Roberson, Colby Forester, Stephen Cromeans, Junior Scott and Allen Boyd. Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Rodriguez, John Isbell, David Collins and Junior Cromeans.
Ruth I. White

Ruth Irene White, 83, of Sheffield, died April 27, 2008, at Shoals Hospital.
She was born in Itawamba County, Miss., on Dec. 22, 1924, to Dolphus and Berniece Sides Ashley. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ruby Hall and Ruble Timmons, and her brother, W.D. Ashley.
Funeral services were held on April 29, 2008, at Deaton Funeral Home with Bro. John Stockton officiating. She was buried in Salem Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Earmon White, of Tuscumbia, and Roger D. White (Brenda), of Tupelo, Miss.; two brothers, Charles Ashley of Belmont, Miss., and Paul Ashley of Golden, Miss.; four sisters, Edna Lofton of Winthrop Harbor, Ill., Nell Anderson of Zion, Ill., Juanita Rogers of Tupelo, Miss., and Burton Stockton of Belmont, Miss.; three grandchildren, Stacy White of Tupelo, Miss., Gary White of Canton, Ill., and Ricky White of San Antonio, Texas; and a number of great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Leland Timmons, Jeff Ashley, Eldon Taylor, Macky Hargett and Jimmy Rogers.

Frances Senkbeil Taylor, 83, of Spruce Pine, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2008.
Funeral services were on April 29, 2008, at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Spruce pine with Bro. Jerome Sherill and Bro. Patrick Murray officiating. Interment was in Mountain Home Cemetery in Belgreen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Taylor; daughter, Janell Bryant and grandson, Ricky Bryant.
She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Taylor; sons, Eugene and Sue Taylor, Charles and Lenora Taylor; grandchildren, Sherry Taylor Hughes, Donna Bobo Murray, Anissa Taylor Mixon, Rodney Bryant, Christy Taylor Nix, Laura Taylor, Amy Taylor Malone, Justin Taylor; great-grandchildren, Erica Murray, Evan Mixon, Ariel Murray, Denver Mixon, Hunter Malone, Andy Malone, Emma Malone, Kaylee Bryant, Cameron Bryant and Mason Bryant.
Pallbearers were Evan Mixon, Justin Taylor, Rodney Bryant, Pat Murray, John Mixon, Jared Nix, Keith Hughes and Brent Malone.

Jean Osborn, 58, of Russellville, died April 28, 2008.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Colbert Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tim Maness officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Opal King and brother, Thomas Berle King. She was a member of Spring Valley Church of God.
She is survived by her husband, Julious Osborn, of Russellville; sons, Landon M. Hand and Danny R. Hand, both of Russellville; daughter, Danna Cottles, of Russellville; eight brothers, James King, Jr., Harold King, Billy King, Eddie King, Mark King, Mitchell King, Nathan King, all of Illinois, and Leon King, of Wisconsin; five sisters, Linda Gray, of Tuscumbia, Carol Encheff, Mary Pederson, Kathy King and Marsha King, all of Illinois; step-children, Victor Osborn, of Muscle Shoals, Gail Martin, of Muscle Shoals, and Mechelle Dowdy, of Florence; two grandchildren, Jordain and Chase Riley, of Russellville.

Jimmy Ray Carroll, 25, of Phil Campbell, died Friday, April 25, 2008, the results of an automobile accident.
He was a native of Waukegan, Ill., but lived most of his life in Jackson, Tenn. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with James Bray officiating. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery.
He is survived by his son, Blayne Duval Koonce, Jackson, Tenn.; father, Alan Newell, Phil Campbell; mother, Kathy Dean Allen, Russellville; fianc/, Ginnie George, Russellville; sisters, Melissa Kay Newell, Phil Campbell, Felicia Dawn Allen, Gulf Shores; nephew, Kirk Newell; aunts and uncles, Betty Sue Trapp, Phil Campbell, Mildred Allen, Jackson, Tenn., Vickie Denise Trapp, Phil Campbell, Robert Eugene Allen, Montgomery; several cousins.
Pallbearers will be Robert Vandiver, Anthony Foster, Alan Newell, Willie Lane, Max Bryant, Josh Wilson, Pablo Santiago and Ryan Hester.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Clois Allen and Evelyn Allen; uncles, Kenneth Allen and Johnny Allen; aunt, Shirley McGee; nephew, Dylan Newell.
Dylan S. Newell

Dylan Samuel Newell, 10, of Sheffield, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, due to an automobile accident.
He was a native of Jackson, Tenn., but was currently living in Sheffield. He attended Woodward Avenue Baptist Church.
Dylan was a sweet, loving little boy, who loved the outdoors. He was a fourth grade student at L.E. Wilson Elementary School and he was the best brother anyone could have.
The funeral is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel, Russellville, with Jerry Hester officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Phil Campbell.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 1 to 3 p.m.
He is survived by his father, Russell Newell, Sheffield; mother, Melissa Newell, Phil Campbell; brother, Kirk Newell, Sheffield; grandparents, R. L. and LaRetha Newell, Sheffield, Kathy Allen, Phil Campbell; great-grandfather, Alex Satas; aunts and uncles, Bobby Newell, Phil Campbell, Jennifer Bragwell, Muscle Shoals, Felicia Allen, Gulf Shores, Johnie Satas and Billy Satas, both of Colliersville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by grandfather, Johnny Satas; great-grandmother, Elizabeth Satas, and uncle, Jimmy Ray Carroll.
