    Mary Yealock

    Mary Lois Yealock of Phil Campbell died Sunday, March 30, 2008. She was born December 8, 1924 to Andy and Kizzie Raper in Phil Campbell. She died 22 years to the day after her father. She was married on December 30, 1942 to J. L. Yealock. They were married 53 years.
    Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. William Mears and Bro. Ronald Watson officiating the service. Burial was in the Shady Grove Cemetery at Liberty Hill in Phil Campbell.
    Ms. Yealock was preceded in death by her husband, J.L. Yealock; parents, Andy and Kizzie Raper; son, Roger, Yealock; grandson, Matthew Flanagan; great-grandchildren, Gracie Elizabeth Tidwell and Kaylee Diane Tidwell; and sisters, Dorothy Cleveland, Lulabell Edgar, and Flora Mae Stephens.
    Ms. Yealock is survived by two sons, Carl Yealock (Johnnie Bea) of Cordova, Ronnie Yealock (Cindy) of Lynn; daughter, Audrey Cole (Wyman) of Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Andrew Flanagan, Kesha Tidwell, Stacy Yealock, Tonya Thrasher, Bryan Yealock, Kerri Harvin, Karen Mims, P.J. Lindley, Kasey Cole, and Nikki Cole; brothers, Marlin Raper and Glaney Raper of Adrian, Mi.; sisters, Bessie Cleveland of Russellville, Nell Summer of Adrian and Bernice Palmer of Adrian; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers for the service included Jarrod Tidwell, P.J. Lindley, Bobby Mims, Chad Monasco, Cody McDougle, and Robert Yealock. Honorary pallbearers included Stacy Yealock, Andrew Flanagan, and Wyman Cole.
    Spry Memorial Chapel in Russellville assisted the family.
    Leburn Burleson
    April 5, 2008
    Leburn Burleson, 92, of Haleyville, died April 5, 2008 at Princeton Baptist Medical Center. He was born in Marion County, and was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ and a retired business owner.
    Graveside services were held Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Winston Memorial Cemetery with Andy Kizer offficiating the service.
    Mr. Burleson was survived by his wife, Sarah Opal Watkins Burleson; son, Gerald Max Burleson and wife, Frances, of Halevyille; sisters, Bobbie West of Hamilton and Fleeta McCreless of Hamilton; brother, Buster Burleson and wife, Ara Lou, of Haleyville; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Burleson of Wilmington, N.C., Jamie Hadden and husband, Matt, of Alpharetta, Ga., and Mandy Burleson of Daphne.
    Mr. Burleson was preceded in death by parents, Veto and Belle Burleson; and sister, Drexel Pickard, Floy Mann and Artie Vee Burleson.
    Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
    John Wakefield
    April 6, 2008
    John David Wakefield, 84, of Haleyville, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2008 at his home. He was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. He worked 35 years at Great Lakes Steel.
    Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Pinkard Funeral Home with Bobby Dodd officiating the service. Burial was at the King School House Cemetery.
    Mr. Wakefield is survived by wife, Geneva Bass Wakefield; daughter, Gloria Genise Zamorski and husband, Mike; brother, George Wakefield; and grandchildren, Bryan and Krystal Zamorski.
    Mr. Wakefield is preceded in death by parents, Luther and Mary Wakefield; and siblings, Martha, Lorene, Elefair, Millie, Andrew and William Lee.
    Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
    Delma Baker
    April 7, 2008
    Delma "Jenny" Rea Baker died Monday, April 7, 2008 at Russellville Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on July 29, 1937 in Hodges to the late James Daniel and Fannie Mae Rea. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Rea Henry; brother, Robert Lee Rea; husband, Billy Joe Baker; an infant son and infant daughter.
    Ms. Baker graduated with a Master's Degree in Education from the University of North Alabama and was a retired school teacher with the Franklin County Board of Education. She enjoyed teaching so much and often talked about her experiences as a teacher. Her great grandchildren knew that when they saw their Mawmaw Jenny that she would find something to teach them and they would learn something from her.
    Ms. Baker is survived by sons, David Keith Baker (Sharon) of Hackleburg and Michael Allen Baker of Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Amy Baker Rusk (Jeff), Christy Baker McAfee (Brian), all of Haleyville, Amanda Baker of Phil Campbell; great-grandchildren, Blake McAfee, Joseph, Jacob, and Lillian Rusk, Hunter Baker, and little baby Gracie Ray Baker. She also has several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Akins Funeral Home with visitation being held from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Bro. Elmer Lee Stewad will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Ol' Line Cemetery.
    We would like to send a special and heartfelt thanks to Russellviille Hopsital second floor nurses for treating our mother and grandmother with such respect and love; Dr. Morrow and his staff and for everyone who visited, called or just said a prayer for her. We know that she is now in the presence of our Lord and again using her beautiful voice to sing praises to His name.

    Ruby Taylor
    April 9, 2008
    Ruby C. Taylor died April 9, 2008. The visitation will be at Akins Funeral Home Friday, April 11, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2008 at 10 a.m. with Dr. Kenny Taylor officiating the service. Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will included friends and grandchildren.
    Ms. Taylor was born July 8, 1917 and died at the age of 90 near Wiginton in Marion County. She spent her early and mid life as a school teacher including a time teaching G.I. School to returning veterans. She taught in the Franklin County and Marion County School Systems. She served family members as a legal secretary following her teaching career. She took great pleasure in the arts including painting oils and later in acrylics. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Russellville.
    Ms. Taylor was preceded in death by son, Riley W. Taylor; parents, Austin Cantrell and Julia Davis Cantrell; brothers, Gaston Cantrell, G.K. Cantrell, Miles Cantrell, and Mark Cantrell.
    She is survived by brothers, Raymand Cantrell and Jimmy Cantrell; husband of 57 years, H. Neil Taylor; son Neil Taylor Jr.; and daugthers-in-law, Emily Taylor Carden and Amanda Taylor, and seven great grandchildren.
    Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
