For more than 20 years as a Franklin County Sheriff's Deputy, Wilburn Gray escorted countless convicts to the county jail.
Now, he'll be showing them the way in a different manner.
The Franklin County commission voted yesterday to name the driveway access to the new county jail Wilburn Dray Drive in honor of the first deputy to retire from the department.
"He was a great person, a hard worker and a dedicated employee to this department," Sheriff Larry Plott said. "Everyone in the community liked him and he will be sorely missed."
Gray was hired as a deputy Sept. 21, 1980 and served until his retirement, March 1, 2001.
