Local to compete in biscuit cook-off

By Staff
Carol Hutchins, the biscuit maker from the Jack's in Russellville, is a finalist in the annual Jack's Biscuit Bake-Off.
Each year, the biscuit makers at Jack's compete for the title of Grand Biscuit Champion. This month, Jack's will hold its eighth annual Biscuit Bake-Off at 7 a.m. Jan. 24 at Jack's corporate offices in Homewood.
The road to the final competition begins at the store level where all biscuit makers in each of the 86 Jack's stores vie for their store title. Winners then advance to the Area Bake-Off followed by the Regional Bake-Off. The final competition is a showdown between the three company regional winners.
Judging includes execution of procedures, knowledge of tools, and biscuit height, size, shape, color, and consistency. The judges will be Jeh Jeh Pruitt of WBRC-Fox 6, Connie Copelan of Blade Uniform , George Tobia of Bresco, and Steve Phillips of AG Edwards.
The title of Grand Biscuit Champion is coveted among the Jack's biscuit makers. They take great pride in serving the best quality, made from scratch product to Jack's customers each day.
