Bulldogs close on win streak

Colby Barnett pitched a complete game one-hitter and also had two doubles and two RBIs on Tuesday as Belgreen closed its season with a 10-0 rout of Hazlewood.
After beating Phillips on Monday for their first win of the year, the Bulldogs kept the positive momentum going with Tuesday's road win.
"If you're only going to win two, I guess you'd want them to be the last two," Belgreen coach Derek Ergle said. "Most of our kids are sophomores, and I'm glad they were able to get a taste of what it's like to win. That should give us something to build on for next year."
Justin Gardner and Brent Newell each had two hits and two RBIs, and Josh Smith was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Barnett struck out four in six innings.
In other local action:
Hartselle 11-3, Russellville 3-0
The Golden Tigers finished the season with a record of 29-14 after Thursday's doubleheader.
Corey Flanagan had a two-run double for Russellville in the opener, and Preston Beasley struck out 11 batters in a complete game in the second game.
