RHS golf team off to solid start

The Russellville High School golf team opened the 2006 season with a solid start in two matches earlier this week against local teams. First-year coach Phil Phillips took his team on the road for both matches.
On Monday, Russellville shot 184 against Muscle Shoals, Deshler and Sheffield at Cypress Lakes Golf and Country Club. Sophomore John Seal shot 42 to lead the Golden Tigers, followed closely by sophomore E.J. Fisher at 43.
Sophomore Brian Brown shot 48, and senior Will Burgess posted a 51. Freshman Bret Fish scored 53 in his first action on the varsity squad.
Russellville took on Red Bay and Lawrence County in an away match on Tuesday at Deer Run in Moulton. The Golden Tigers scored 167 to take first place, while Red Bay shot 171 and Lawrence County finished at 181.
Seal and Fisher led Russellville with a score of 41, while Burgess and Brown were right behind at 42 and 43, respectively. Fish closed out the scoring with a 47.
The Golden Tigers played their first home match Thursday, with the RHS Black Squad edging out the Red Bay Orange team 159-162. Russellville Gold shot 206, and Red Bay Blue shot 219.
John Seal shot 38 to lead Russellville Black. Trey Bolding led Red Bay with a 36, and Adam Mills added a 39.
