ENTERPRISE Services for Samuel Downs will be held today at 11 a.m. at Enterprise Baptist Church with the Revs. Richard Cothern and Taylor Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Archusa Memorial Gardens. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Downs, 59, of Hickory, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Downs of Hickory; a daughter, Tanya Downs Fleming and her husband, Benjie, of Stonewall; brothers, Jerry Downs of Quitman and Jimmy Downs of Meridian; sisters, Pauline Heathcock of Huntsville, Ala., Mary Milstead of Stonewall, Jo Ann Mack and Joyce Agent, both of Meridian, Hannah Wilder of Lincoln, Neb. and Nina Dyess of Enterprise; grandchildren, Summer Nicole Downs and Mindy Brooke Carney, both of Stonewall; and step-grandchild, Jonathan Benton Fleming of Stonewall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey D. Downs and Vermelle Satcher Downs; and sons, Richard Anthony Downs and Terry Downs.
Visitation will be held today today one hour prior to the service at the church.
AUBURN Services for Doris Phillips will be held today at 2 p.m. at Auburn Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob O'Neal officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery with W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Phillips, 88, of Auburn, formerly of Meridian, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born in Ethel in Attalla County. She also lived in Denum Springs and Pelahatchie before moving to Auburn 10 years ago. She retired from D&H Holmes Clothing where she worked for more than 20 years. She then worked out of her home with her husband in the ceramic business for more than 30 years. She was a member of Auburn Baptist Church.
Survivors include her niece and caregiver, Jean Tullos of Smithville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Andrew and Ludie Lou Green Lindsay; her husband, Woodvin Phillips; brothers, Andrew Lindsay, Joe Lindsay, Clanton Lindsay, Herman Lindsay and Versa Lindsay; and two sisters, Augusta Davis and Beatrice Nichols.
Pallbearers will be her nephews.
Services for Andrea Lynne Mason will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Buddy Petty officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Miss Mason, 10, of Enterprise, died Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, in her home. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and she attended Enterprise Elementary School.
Survivors include her mother, Stephanie Goldman of Enterprise; her maternal grandparents, Deborah G. Smith of Enterprise and Ronald C. Goldman and his wife, Faye, of Stonewall; paternal grandparents, Vicki Lynn Mason and her husband Kenneth "Randy" Mason Sr. of Pascagoula; and an uncle, Reggie Goldman of Enterprise.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Harvey and Eileen Gunn Jr.
Pallbearers will be Mike Gunn, Scotty Gunn, Blake Gunn, Jonathan Miles, Martin Gunn and Reggie Goldman.
EUSTIS, Fla. Services for Raymond K. Britt Sr. will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Mt. Dora. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Eustis. Hamlin and Hilbish Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Britt, 73, of Eustis, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in Eustis. He was born in Meridian, Miss., and moved to Eustis from Tinton Falls, N.J., in 1988. He was a realtor with Bill Brown Realty of Eustis, a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Mt. Dora. He was a retired technical publications manager for Chip Supply of Apopka and had owned and operated Lafayette Radio and Electronics of Meridian. His hobbies included computer programming, golf and fishing. He served as a navigator in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, sons, Raymond Kenneth Britt Jr., of Leesburg, Richard William Britt of Eatontown, N.J., and Daniel John Britt of Umatilla; daughters, Celia Denise "Deni" Britt Kelley Adkins of Scottsboro, Ala., and Linda Kristine Britt of Staton Island, N.Y.; a brother, Cecil William Britt Jr. of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a twin brother, Richard Eugene Britt of Blairsville, Ga., and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Raymona "Mona" Britt Kelley Belcher in 2003.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Lake and Sumter.
Visitation will be Sunday from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
