Retired truck driver
Graveside services for William J. "Bubber" Dearman will be held today at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Gary A. Bickford officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Dearman, 67, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired truck driver with Atlas Roofing Company.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patsy Ruth McCall Dearman; sons, James Robert Dearman and his wife, Debra, Kenneth Wayne Dearman and his wife, Wendy, and William Michael Dearman, all of Meridian and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Celia Dearman; a sister, Katherine Delores Garrard and a brother, Robert Eugene Dearman.
Heavy equipment operator
BUTLER, Ala. A prayer service for James H. "Jamie" Gibson will be held tonight following visitation at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Franklin McLelland officiating.
Mr. Gibson, 74, of Toxey, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his daughter, Carol Gibson Winkler and her husband, Jack, of Donalds, S.C.; brothers, Gus Gibson of Anniston, Robert Gibson of York, Jerald Gibson of Orange Beach and Curtis Gibson of Gilbertown; a sister, Beatrice Tindle of Gilbertown; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired school teacher
PHILADELPHIA Services for Glynn McDonald McKay will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service chapel with Dr. Dan Howard and the Revs. Lawrence Pool and Rickey McKay officiating. Burial will be in Coye Assembly of God Cemetery in Preston.
Mrs. McKay, 72, of Preston, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Bee Hive Homes of Philadelphia. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in the Coye community of Kemper County. She graduated from Prince Chapel High School, East Mississippi Community College and the Mississippi University for Women. She continued her post graduate education at Mississippi State University where she received her master's and specialist degrees in education. She taught with the BIA at Bogue Chitto Indian School and retired after 25 years of service. She was a member of Coye Assembly of God Church where she served many years as Sunday school teacher as well as holding various church offices and was active in the Coye WM's. She served along with her late husband in the Kemper County Gideon Camp and had served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary. After retirement she remained active in civic and community affairs.
Survivors include her son, Don McKay and his wife, Sharon, of Philadelphia; grandchildren, Richard McKay, Samuel McKay and Mollie Clair McKay, all of Philadelphia; sisters, Dean Whitehead of Meridian, Clarice Smith Williamson of Philadelphia, Carolyn Carroll of Preston and Beverly Jones of Baton Rouge, La.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of more than 49 years, Richard L. McKay; and her parents, Louis P. and Clara Mae McDonald.
Pallbearers will be Randy Carroll, Danny Louis Carroll, Sean Whitney, Eddie Smith, Grady Stokes, Barry Wright, Dan Tingle and Jimmy McDonald.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Coye WM's.
The family requests memorials be made to the Kemper County Gideons, P.O. Box 650, DeKalb, MS 39328; or the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 414 Pecan Ave., Philadelphia, MS 39350, or the Coye Assembly of God Church Building Fund, 62 Short Cut Road, Preston, MS 39354.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Homemaker
QUITMAN Services for Opal B. Carmichael will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Eakes officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Mrs. Carmichael, 93, of Quitman, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Lakeside Living Center.
Survivors include her sons, Thurman Carmichael Jr. and his wife, Gwen, of Meridian, Harold Carmichael of Quitman and Tommy Carmichael and his wife, Bonnie, of Pensacola, Fla.; daughters, Dorothy Carmichael of Canton and Thelma Holloman and her husband, Danny, of Quitman; sisters, Gladys Bancroft of Powell, Texas and Louise Dunnam of Quitman; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Retired housekeeper
VICKSBURG Services for Estelle Ott Keathley will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Keathley, 89, of Marion, died Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Guardian Angel Health Care Center in Marion.
Survivors include a brother, W.E. Ott of Quitman; two nephews and two nieces and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Keathley and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ott.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church of Vicksburg.
Visitation will be Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home.
MCCOMB Services for Nanette Anderson Stephens will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Catchings Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Dore officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mrs. Stephens, 83, of Northport, Ala., formerly of Meridian, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Survivors include her husband, Bunyan Dudley Stephens; a daughter, Sherry S. Scheber; a son, B. Dudley Stephens and his wife, Cheryl; a sister, Josephine Faust; a brother, Dr. George Hamilton II and his wife, Peggy; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jewelle and George Hamilton, and Joseph Max Anderson; a sister, Maxine Anderson Lillie; and two grandchildren, Sharon DeArman and Nancy Nanette.
Visitation will be today from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
