NCA, WA clash on Friday

The game of the year in the MPSA 5-A league is set for Friday, as Newton County Academy hosts Wayne Academy in Decatur. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
NCA comes in with a 7-1 overall record, while Wayne is 6-2. The Generals rolled past Rebul Academy 56-16 last week, while Wayne was taking a 58-8 beating from Lamar School.
Wayne's lopsided loss to Lamar can be misleading. Wayne lost several key players early and Lamar is Class AAA, while Wayne is Class A. NCA had a similar experience this fall when it played Class AA Leake, losing 48-22.
Early injuries took away any chance Wayne had of competing with Lamar.
Stanley was questionable for Friday's game as of Tuesday when he went to see an orthopedic doctor.
With or without Stanley, Walker expects a tough test in the Generals, who are one win away from tieing the school record of eight set in 1993.
For the year, Blackburn has scored 12 touchdowns, while McGowin has 10 and Brad Harrison has nine.
Brett Coxwell has scored 11 touchdowns for the Jaguars, while Stanley has nine.
The winner will also avoid a long ride to Louisiana in the upcoming playoffs on Oct. 29.
