Brittany L. Wright of Meridian has been selected to receive the Gay and Bill Whitworth Scholarship at Meridian Community College. The $600 award is funded through the MCC Foundation by the Whitworths.
Wright is a 2003 graduate of West Lauderdale High School. A dean's list and president's scholar, she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa the international honor society for two-year college students. She has participated with the College Activities Board and My College Cares; she volunteers with LOVE's Kitchen.
She is enrolled in the Associates Degree Nursing Program for the fall semester. She plans to pursue a Bachelor's degree in nursing.
Theresa S. Ray of Meridian has been selected to receive the American Business Women's Association Scholarship at Meridian Community College.
The $500 award is funded through the MCC Foundation by the organization which helps women promote themselves in the business community through learning opportunities.
Ray is a 1978 graduate of Clarkdale High School. A sophomore in the University Transfer Program, she was named to the dean's list for the spring semester. She works part time in the MCC Records Office.
She plans to complete her bachelor's degree in social work or counseling.
East Central Community College sophomore Amy Ealy of Forest is the 2004-2005 recipient of a $600 scholarship presented by the Mississippi Association of College Stores Inc.
The annual award is based on academic merit and financial need. Scholarship applicants also were required to submit an essay highlighting school activities, academic awards or honors and community activities.
A dean's list scholar, Ealy is involved in various activities at ECCC, including Warrior Corps, BSU, Gospel Choir and the Wall O' Sound Marching Band. She also serves as sophomore class secretary and was recently chosen a sophomore maid on the 2004 homecoming court.
She also was selected a freshman maid.
She was valedictorian of her 2002 graduating class at Forest High School and was also named to the Hall of Fame. She is the daughter of Alexander and Willie Ealy of Forest.
