Graduate student Scott Edwards of Meridian is among a group of College of Forest Resources students who were recently honored at Mississippi State University for academic, service and leadership accomplishments.
He is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Wayne Edwards.
James Warren Brown Jr. of Meridian is the recipient of a Mississippi Trucking Association Foundation Scholarship.
The Mississippi Trucking Association awarded 10 scholarships for the 2004-2005 academic year. The awards are available to students who have a parent employed in the trucking industry.
Brown, a music education major, will be a junior at the University of Southern Mississippi this fall. His mother is employed by AAA Cooper Transportation.
He is the son of Phyllis and James Warren Brown Sr.
Robert Daggett of Meridian was one of more than 500 students who recently received a bachelor's of science degree in finance and economics from Elmhurst College.
Ashley Wilkins of DeKalb recently received the Irene Bradley Memorial Scholarship at Meridian Community College. This $1,500 awarded is funded through the MCC Foundation by Dr. Ronnye D. Purvis.
Bradley was a member of the obstetrics nursing staff at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center for many years. Her dedication to her profession made a significant impact on all who came in contact with her.
Wilkins is a 2003 honor graduate of West Lauderdale High School. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Teenagers Against Tobacco use. She is a sophomore in the University Transfer Program. Her career goal is to become a pharmacist.
Gregory Mark Wells has been selected to receive the Madeline Scott Callahan Memorial Scholarship at MCC. This $900 award is funded through the MCC Foundation from an endowment established by the East Mississippi Medical Alliance, her family and friends.
Wells is a 1995 honor graduate of Mountain Home High School in Indiana. He is entering the third semester of the Associate's Degree Nursing Program at MCC.
A president's list scholar, Wells is a member of the Organization of Student Nurses and Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year college students. He plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in nursing. In addition to his course work, he is employed full time at Naval Air Station Meridian and is the single parent of 6-year-old Savannah.
