Services for Cola Brown Ross will be held today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with the Revs. James Sanders and Jim Rickles officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Ross, 99,of Toomsuba, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Riley Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Lamar Ross of Toomsuba, D.W. Ross and Bobby C. Ross, both of Jasper, Tenn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David M. Ross.
Pallbearers will be Craig Crouch, Louis Ross, Leon Ross, Ronald Powell, Billy Hastings and Billy Knight.
Visitation will be today from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Services for Catherine West-Smith will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness with Jessie Palmer Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Friendly Cemetery in Marion. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Smith, 45, of St. Louis, Mo.; died Monday, Aug. 10, 2004, in her home.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Smith of St. Louis; her parents, Willie B. Sr. and Kizzie B. West, of Meridian; sisters, Rosie Knighten, Edna Thomas, Kathy Brown, Mary Patrick and Patricia Naylor, all of Meridian; brothers, James West of Anchorage, Alaska, Woodrow West and Jessie West, both of Meridian.
Retired
Services for Dee Lewis Covington will be held today at 3 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe York of Atlanta officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Covington, 90, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Riley Hospital. He was born in Lauderdale County and was a lifelong resident. He was involved for many years in community and church activities and held leadership roles in both. He was a charter member and elder at Bailey Presbyterian Church, PCA.
He was a retired cattleman and sawmill owner and a long time timber farmer. He was a leader in Lauderdale County public education and served for more than 37 years as a member of the Lauderdale County School Board and as a trustee.
Survivors include his children, Sheila Davis and her husband, Perry, Cathy Caldwell and her husband, Jackie, and Pam McDonald and her husband, Tommy, all of Meridian; brothers, Harold Covington and Welborn Covington, both of Meridian and Wayne Covington of Scottsboro, Ala.; grandchildren, Tammi Moffett of Slidell, La., Lisa Rawls of Wiggins, Chad Davis of Crossett Ark., Glenn Caldwell, Greg Caldwell, Angela Shirley and Justin McDonald, all of Meridian, Jason McDonald of Shreveport, La., and Jonathan McDonald of Huntsville, Ala. and 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Talbert Covington, brothers, Woodrow Covington, Ford Covington, Cecil Covington and Jessie Covington and his parents, Thomas and Cecil Covington.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Caldwell, Greg Caldwell, Chad Davis, Jason McDonald, Jonathan McDonald, Justin McDonald, Russell Moffett, Ed Rawls and Stephen Shirley.
Visitation will be today from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
Infant
UNION Services for Kaleb Thomas Hitt will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hopewell Baptist Church in Little Rock with the Rev. Jimmy McDill officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Infant Hitt, 11 weeks, of Little Rock, died Friday, August 13, 2004, at Lairds Hospital.
Survivors include his parents, Matthew and Bridgett Hitt; a brother, Jacob Hitt, all of Little Rock; paternal grandparents, Bobby Ray Hitt and Barbara Hitt of Philadelphia; maternal grandparents, Pete Hines and Glenda Hines of Little Rock; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
SEBASTOPOL Graveside services for Bessie Crocker will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church cemetery.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Self employed painting contractor
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at his home in Meridian. His cremated remains will be scattered at sea at a later date. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Collins, 81,of Meridian, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He loved history and unexplained events. He was a Christian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in World War II aboard the USS Conner in the Pacific theater. He worked at Ingalls Shipyard for more than 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Yates Collins of Meridian; a daughter, Tracye Phillips of Meridian; sons, Dennis Lee Collins of Lower Lakes, Calif. and David Collins of Mobile, Ala. and a step-son, Windell Johnson of Meridian; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
SEBASTOPOL Services for Harvey Brooks Cox will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Ray Boler will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Al Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Boler, 55, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his sons, Bobby Boler and his wife, Jessica, Joshua Boler, all of Meridian, and Tyrone Boler of Cincinnati; daughters, Regina Tims and her husband, Tracy, Ca'Landra Boler and Ra'Shandra Boler, all of Meridian; sisters, Delores Gardner of Lubbock, Texas, Valeen Tweedy of Cincinnati, Michelle Boyd and Lillie Simmons, all of Meridian, Millie Armstrong and Joe Helen Boler, both of New Orleans and Mary Roberts of Houston, Texas; a brother, Joe Boler of Destraham, La.; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Boler, and four siblings.
Visitation will be held Monday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
