The Clarkdale High School Lady Bulldogs hope to be in the hunt for another 2A state championship with a veteran group of players returning for the 2004 season.
The Lady Bulldogs finished 26-12 last season. They won the South State 2A championship but lost to Mooreville in the state championship game. Seven starters are back from that team.
Whitney Drachenberg will handle the pitching duties. Ashley Bye will play first base, and Sabrina Woodall, who played first last year, moves to second base. The shortstop is Alyssa Bye, and the third baseman will be either Paige Sheppard or Jessica Clark. Tesse Gamble is the catcher.
Kim Seale will start in left field, and Savannah Satcher is the left center fielder. Lauren Rogers is the right center fielder, and Chassidy Roberts will play right field.
Junior Lindsey Dawkins would be in the starting lineup but has been sidelined for the season with a shoulder injury.
The Lady Bulldogs will host the Clarkdale Classic this weekend. They will play in a pool with Newton County and Neshoba Central.
