The big boys and girls of the State Games will gather on June 19 for the annual powerlifting competition.
The event will be held at the Jeff Anderson Health and Fitness Center and is open to all ages. Participants may enter any or all of the three events bench press, squat and deadlift.
Weigh-in will take place beginning at 8 a.m. After a brief but mandatory rules meeting at 9:30 a.m., lifting will start at 10 a.m.
Powerlifting commissioner Eddie Sorto said that while turnout varies from year to year, the event has garnered participation from as many as 50-60 lifters in years past.
Competitors are divided based on age and weight, meaning that potentially dozens of medals could be handed out.
Walk-up registration will be available on an as-available basis for a late fee of $15. Entry fees are $25 per first event and $5 for each additional event, or just $25 for the full meet.
Team competition will also be available for an additional $25.
Spectators, who can watch for free, will be able to use a sitting area in the gym.
