PHILADELPHIA Services for Linda Ann Matthews were to be held today at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. James Griffith officiating. Burial was to be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Neshoba County.
Ms. Matthews, 63, of Houston, Texas, died Friday, May 21, 2004, at Memorial Hermann S.W. Hospital in Houston. She was a native of Neshoba County and had been a resident of Houston for the past 20 years. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retired psychiatric nurse and instructor.
Survivors include her mother, Ruby Dale Matthews of Philadelphia; sisters, Sandra Turner of Tallahassee, Fla., Rebecca Belk, Mary Adkins and Martha Cumberland, all of Philadelphia; brothers, Earnest Dale Matthews and Buddy Matthews, both of Philadelphia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Corris Matthews.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Matthews, Becky Belk, Derek Cumberland, Stacy Adkins, Chad Young and Douglas Johnson.

Services for Woodie "Reed" Haguewood will be held today at 11 a.m. at Center Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Edward Smith and Irvin Mooney officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Haguewood, 91, of Meridian, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at Riley Hospital. He was a lifelong member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He was a faithful mall walker for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Nell Neal and her husband, J.D., of Meridian; a sister, Lula Daniels and her husband, Warren, of the Zero Community; grandchildren, Cathy Owens, Dana Covert and her husband, David, all of Meridian, and Brett Duett of Jacksonville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Benny and Ashley Owens, Sammy Broadhead, Daniel and Maddie Covert, all of Meridian, Morgan Duett, Thompson Duett and Emilee Duett, all of Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Haguewood; and an infant daughter, Ruth Elaine Haguewood.
Memorials may be made to Center Grove Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews.
Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

DEKALB Services for Waldo Duane VanDevender will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at DeKalb Baptist Church with the Revs. James Ruffin and Sam J. Hull officiating. Burial will be in Pine Crest Cemetery in DeKalb. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. VanDevender, 83, of DeKalb, died Wednesday, May 26, 2004, in his home. He was a veteran of World War II and served in India. After the war he graduated from Ole Miss in 1950 and worked as a pharmacist in DeKalb for Adam's Drugs, Brown Drugs and then VanDevender Drugs for more than 54 years.
He was born in the Union Hill Community of Kemper County on Feb. 12, 1921, and professed faith in Christ at an early age. He joined Union Hill Methodist Church and then DeKalb Baptist Church where he was an active member until his death.
Survivors include his wife of more than 52 years, Bonnie Jean VanDevender; daughters, Charlotte Swearingen and her husband, Homer Clay, Sara Lou Mason and her husband, John, Jenny Evans and her husband, Billy, all of DeKalb, and Mary Miller and her husband, Jay, of Madison; sons, Jim VanDevender and his wife, Pam, Joe VanDevender and his wife, Debbie, and Roy O. VanDevender and his wife, Darlene, all of DeKalb; sisters, Rowena Hailey of DeKalb and Margaret Long of Waco, Texas; a brother, Robert K. "Bob" VanDevender of DeKalb; grandchildren, Susie Heath, Buddy Swearingen, Edye Miller, Rob Miller, Abby Miller, Jill VanDevender, Jan VanDevender, Jamie VanDevender, Ben VanDevender, Will VanDevender, Chris Mason, Kenny Mason, Mallie VanDevender, Christina Evans, Bonnie Evans, Sammie Evans and Bailey Evans; great-grandchildren, Courtney Heath, Cameron Heath, Morgan Swearingen and T. Clay Swearingen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Berta VanDevender; a brother, Leon VanDevender; a grandson, Clay Mason; and a great-grandson, Logan Heath.
Memorials may be made to DeKalb Baptist Church, a charity of choice or put up a bird feeder in memory of Mr. VanDevender.
Services for Lillian McKee will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Hare officiating. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery. Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. McKee, 85, of Hickory, died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at Angel Garden Hospice.
Survivors include her sisters, Gloria McKee of Southfield, Mich., Shareefah Hud of Midland, Ga., and Ruth Mays of Detroit.
