Clarkdale ready for tourney

Twenty-four girls high school fast-pitch softball teams will be converging on the four fields at the Northeast Softball Complex today and Saturday to take part in the Clarkdale Lady Bulldogs 2004 Spring Fling.
Five teams from East Mississippi are taking part in the event, with at least one of them being placed in each of the event's four pools.
All 24 teams will play four games in the pool-play event, with all of the schools other than Moss Point playing two games each day. Moss Point will play all four of its games on Saturday.
The action gets underway at 1 p.m. today on all four fields.
Host Clarkdale is in Pool 1 along with Winona, Kosciusko, Gautier, Bibb County and Moss Point. The Lady Bulldogs play Winona at 1 p.m. today and Gautier at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Clarkdale faces Kosciusko at 4 p.m. on Saturday and Moss Point at 7 p.m.
Neshoba Central is joined in Pool 2 by Demopolis, Clinton, Tuscaloosa County, Southaven and East Central. Today's games for NCHS are at 2:30 p.m. against Tuscaloosa County and at 5:30 p.m. against Clinton. On Saturday, the Lady Rockets face Demopolis at 10 a.m. and Southaven at 4 p.m.
Union and Enterprise are the area teams in Pool 3. The Lady Jackets are joined by Eupora, Kossuth, DeSoto and Hale County. Today, Union plays DeSoto at 2:30 p.m. and Kossuth at 5:30 p.m. Enterprise's games today have EHS facing Hale County at 4 p.m. and Eupora at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Union takes on Hale County at 11:30 a.m. and Eupora at 5:30 p.m. Enterprise is scheduled to take on Kossuth at 10 a.m. and DeSoto at 4 p.m.
Pool 4 is made up of Newton County, Mooreville, Grenada, Pascagoula, Harrison Central and Caledonia. The Lady Cougars play Mooreville at 1 p.m. today and Harrison Central at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, Newton County faces Pascagoula at 10 a.m. and Caledonia at 4 p.m.
