Area Roundup: Clarkdale Dogs take win; NE Lauderdale splits pair

Kevin McKissack ripped a single and double to lead the Clarkdale Bulldogs to a 7-5 non-division win over Choctaw Central on Saturday.
Kurt Singley (2-1) picked up the win on the mound for the 3-3 Bulldogs, while Brent Mabry earned the save. Mabry also had a double for the winners.
Union 16
NE Lauderdale 14
The two teams combined for 30 runs on just 10 hits as the visiting Yellowjackets came away with the two-run win.
We Henry had three hits and three RBIs for Union, while picking up the win in relief. Josh Kasey had a double, single and an RBI for the winners.
NE Lauderdale 9
Newton 1
The Trojans moved their record to 6-2 on the year with the win over the visiting Tigers on Saturday.
Oubry (1-0) pitched seven strong innings to take the win on the mound for NEL, striking out three and allow just six hits, while not giving up a walk.
Florence 5
Wayne County 3
Florence scored three runs in the third and one in the bottom of the fourth to take a Region 5-4A win a game shortened to just four innings due to rain on Friday.
Morton 12
SE Lauderdale 6
Morton scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a close game on Thursday night to take the 12-6 Region 5-3A victory.
Carthage 15
Choctaw Central 4
The visiting Tigers only picked up seven hits on Thursday, but it was enough to produce 15 runs in the 11-run win in Region 5-3A action.
Louisville 8
Pearl 7
Louisville fell behind 6-1 after two innings of play but rallied to move to 6-0 on the season with the one-run win on Thursday night.
Winston Academy 3
Central 2
Winston scored two runs in the second and one in the sixth to earn a 3-2 win over Central Academy on Thursday. Both teams had four hits and committed three errors in the game.

Stringer 0
Emily Howard tossed a no-hitter and moved to 2-0 on the season as the Lady Bulldogs rolled past Stringer on Saturday.
Meridian 8
Columbus 0
Brandi Limerick picked up the win on the mound for Meridian, allowing just five hits along the way.
Meridian 7
SE Lauderdale 3
Ebonee Ball homered and Brandi Limerick had a single and double to lead the Lady Wildcats to the win.

Jana Olczak ripped a single and double to lead the Lady Trojans to a 13-5 win over Wayne County on Saturday.

The Lady Tigers picked up a tight win over NE Lauderdale at the Northeast Softball Complex on Saturday.

Kara Hull smashed out a single and double for the Lady Trojans on Saturday, as NE Lauderdale moved to 5-3 on the season with the win.
South Jones 9
Quitman 0
Division 5-4A play was not kind to the Lady Panthers of Quitman on Thursday, as they were no-hit by Kacy Stewart of South Jones.
Philadelphia 7
Ackerman 4
The Lady Tornadoes scored three runs in the top of the seven to remain undefeated with a 7-4 win over Ackerman on Thursday.
JUCO BASEBALL
East Central 8-2
Jones JC 2-3
East Central won the opener 8-2 on the way to splitting a doubleheader with homestanding Jones County Junior College in Ellisville on Friday. Jones won the nightcap 3-2.
