Haggard leads Lamar to win

The Lamar School boys' basketball team improved its record to 16-9 with a road win over Starkville Academy on Tuesday.
The Raiders tallied a 58-44 win over the Volunteers, who fell to 12-10 for the season.
David Haggard tallied a game-high 20 points for Lamar, and Austin Roebuck and Matthew Fort added 15 and 10, respectively.
Davis Parrish scored 12 points to lead Starkville Academy's offense.
The Raiders continue their season on Friday in Baton Rogue, La., against Central Private.

Cheryl Luquire scored a team-high 21 points for the Lady Raiders, and Semmes Ford added seven, as Lamar came up two points short against Starkville Academy on Tuesday.
The Lady Raiders picked up a win last Saturday over Central Academy.
Luquire scored a team-high 19 points in a 48-33 victory.
Union (girls) 57
Newton County 54
Amechia Hickman scored a team-high 17 points for Union in the team's win over Newton County on Tuesday.
Lauren White tallied 14 points for Union in the win.
Sebastopol (girls) 42

Scott Central fell to 15-9 for the season with a loss to Sebastopol on Tuesday.
Latasha Johnson scored a team-high 13 points for Scott Central. A.J. Johnson tallied 15 points for Sebastopol, and Brittany Gordon added 13.

The Clarkdale girls' basketball team fell to 7-14 for the season with a loss on the road to Nanih Waiya on Tuesday.
Felicia Kirksey paced the Lady Bulldogs' offense with 15 points.

The Clarkdale boys' basketball team fell in overtime to Nanih Waiya on Tuesday.
Shannon Henley led the Bulldogs' offensive attack with a game-high 37 points, and Drew Edwards tallied 27 for Clarkdale, which fell to 9-12 for the season.

Wayne County dropped to 11-8 for the season with a loss to Bay Springs on Monday.
David Howard scored a team-high 26 points for the War Eagles, and Cedrick Jones, Kamarcus West and Jerell Powe each added 10.
Labarton Jones scored a game-high 27 points for Bay Springs, and Reggie Shellwood added 12.

Wayne County improved its record to 17-5 for the season with a two-point win over Bay Spring (23-2) on Monday.
Naomi Barnes paced the Lady War Eagles' attack with 12 points, and Lauren Pittman added 11.
Kristi Martin scored 20 points for Bay Springs in the loss.

Heather Moody and Theresa Todd each scored 15 points for Sumter Academy on Monday, as the team ended the regular season with a win over Jackson Academy.
Eve Bowling scored 12 points for Jackson Academy.
Sumter Academy opens play in the Class 2A AISA playoffs at Pickens Academy on Friday. The team will take on Southern Academy.
Warrior (boys) 48

Ivan Cade scored 16 points and Devon Manley added 14 as the Warrior Academy Braves defeated Patrician Academy on Monday.
Tommy Milakic scored 11 points for Patrician Academy, and Russell Cheatham added 10.
Warrior Academy (15-7) travels to Marion Military Institute Friday night for the West Region 2 Class A tournament.

The Warrior Academy Lady Braves wrapped up their regular-season schedule unbeaten as they crushed Patrician Academy on Monday.
Keshara Moore scored a game-high 15 points for Warrior Academy.
Warrior Academy (22-0) travels to Marion Military Institute Friday night for the West Region 2 Class A tournament.
Sumter Co. (boys) 70

The Wildcats used a strong man-to-man defense to take a 70-36 win over Greensboro.
The win gives Sumter County a 24-2 overall record as they prepare to enter the playoffs next week.
Sumter County is tied with Francis Marion for first place in Class 3-A Area
In the girls game Sumter County took a 69-53 win over Greensboro.
This was a good game because we were able to get a lot of players in the
game,… Sumter County head coach Johnny Patrick said. When the playoffs get
here, our starters are going to have to play a lot longer….
The Wildcats were methodical as they scored 18 points in each of the first
three quarters, and 16 in the final quarter.
The Wildcats scored eight of their first 18 points from the free throw line
as they built up an 18-6 first quarter lead.
Greensboro did not score until a three-pointer fell with 2:33 remaining in
the quarter.
Marko Mitchell led Sumter County with 15 points while Reaynando Sturdivant
added 13 points and Corderro Law and LeKendrick Terrell each scored 10.
Greensboro was led by Jawarsky Sewell with 13 points.
ECCC (men) 79

Five players scored in double figures, as the East Central Community College men's basketball team defeated Hinds on Monday.
Jamaal Martin paced the Warriors' offense with 16 points, and Al Willis added 14. Desmond Jones scored 13, and Neil Tadlock and Dewayne Hughes each had 10 points.
ECCC improved to 8-11 for the season with the win.

The East Central Community College women's basketball team improved its record to 18-2 with a win over Hinds on Monday.
Kristin Chaney scored a team-high 12 points for the Lady Warriors, and Ebone'e Leverette and Rita Birden added 11 and 10, respectively.

Phillip Lockhart scored a team-high 18 points for East Mississippi Community College, as the Lions fell on the road to Northwest Mississippi.
Calvin Moore tallied 12 points for EMCC in the loss.
