The Lady Warriors of Choctaw Central, ranked No. 5 in the state by The Associated Press, ran their record to 18-1 on the year on Tuesday night with a 73-47 win over Carthage High School.
Chantay Frazier pumped in 33 points to lead the winners, while Ashley Flint scored 11 and Mystee Dale added 10.
Alisa Matlock score 12 and Shonda Marshall added 10 to lead Carthage. Choctaw Central led 32-21 at the half and 47-32 after three quarters of play.
Choctaw Central plays host to Newton County on Friday night.
Choctaw County (boys) 63
Thomasville 51
Choctaw County had four players in double figures on Tuesday in a 63-51 win over Thomasville.
Markell Johnson and Clinton Thomas, Jr. tied for game-high scoring honors with 16 points each. Theodore Jimerson had 13 points and Deon President scored 12 for Choctaw County.
Jeremy Pugh and Brian Shamburger had 11 points apiece for Thomasville.
Choctaw County is now 15-6 and hosts Monroe County on Friday.
Philadelphia (boys) 47
Ackerman 33
Philadelphia outscored Ackerman 19-9 in the third quarter and then held on for the 14-point win on Tuesday night.
Bobby Goodin led the 13-5 Tornadoes with 20 points. Philly hosts Union on Friday.
Neshoba Central (boys) 66
Kosciusko 62
Eric Smith pumped in 24 points to lead the 7-12 Rockets of Neshoba Central to a 66-62 Tuesday win over Kosciusko.
Anthony Jones scored 17 for the winners, while Karlos Day added 10. The game was tied 35-35 at the half before Neshoba outscored the Whippets 16-6 in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Neshoba Central visits Bailey on Friday and Union on Saturday.
Wayne County (girls) 51
Quitman 31
Ole Miss signee Ratassia Worsham scored 14 points and Kathy Bivens added 12 to lead the Lady War Eagles of Wayne County to the 20-point win on Tuesday night.
Wayne outscored Quitman 17-6 in the second quarter and 15-4 in the fourth. Kemonica McGee scored 13 points to lead Quitman. The Lady Panthers of Quitman face 17-0 Northeast Jones on Friday, while 10-4 Wayne County visits West Jones on the same night.
South Leake (boys) 49
Union 46
South Leake outscored Union High School 13-2 in the third quarter to turn a six-point halftime advantage into a lead the Wildcats didn't relinquish.
Corey Johnson scored 22 points to lead South Leake, while DeAnthony Ealy added 16. Marcus Gill scored 13 to lead 6-10 Union.
UHS visits Philadelphia on Friday and hosts Neshoba Central on Saturday.
Kemper Academy 36
Central (girls) 20
Kemper held the Lady Vikings of Central Academy to six or less points in each quarter on the way to the solid win on Tuesday night.
Kayla Mosley scored 13 points to lead Kemper, while Olivia Reed scored 10 for Central. Kemper Academy hosts Sylva-Bay tonight.
Philadelphia (girls) 59
Ackerman 38
The Lady Tornadoes of Philadelphia High School ran their record to 15-3 on the season with the solid win over Ackerman on Tuesday night.
Shenique Brass pumped in 14 points to lead the winners, while Ashley Lowery and Dominetrix Hunter scored 12 each. Natonya McWilliams added 10 for Philly.
Kemper Co. (girls) 54
Noxubee County 52
Kemper County outscored visiting Noxubee County 24-16 in the fourth quarter to take the two-point win.
Melody Nave scored 21 points to lead Kemper County, now 4-16 on the season, while Lashondria Ramsey and Javita Eades scored 13 points each.
Brittany Tate led Noxubee County with 18 points. Kemper County hosts league foe Williams-Sullivan on Friday.
Choctaw Central 86
Carthage (boys) 75
Sean Ahshapanek scored 20 points to lead four Choctaw Central players in double figures as the Warriors took the Region 5-3A win over Carthage on Tuesday night.
Jaric Anderson scored 17 for Choctaw Central, while Scott Nickey hit for 15 and Joseph Martin added 12. Dexter Leflore pumped in 40 for Carthage, while Timmy Thompson added 13 and Russell Brown 10.
Bay Springs (girls) 49
Bassfield 39
Nadosha Strickland scored 11 points to help the Lady Bulldogs of Bay Springs moves their record to 18-1 on the season.
Bay Springs visits Jasper County rival Heidelberg High School on Friday and Stringer on Saturday.
Leake Academy 69
Simpson (girls) 56
Kristen Caldwell scored 33 points and Greggina Tadlock added 21 as the Rebelettes moved to 21-1 on the season with the win over Simpson.
The game was tied at 15-15 after one quarter of play before Leake outscored the Lady Cougars 26-10 in the second quarter to take control of the game.
Heidelberg Academy 79
Sylva-Bay (girls) 32
Courtney Thomas scored 31 points to help move the Heidelberg Academy girls to 12-5 on the season.
Christie Thomas scored 11 points and Katie Barnett 10 for HA, while Mandy Parker scored 12 for Sylva-Bay.
Lamar (girls) 57
South Choctaw 44
Lamar's girls basketball team edged closer to a non-losing record on Monday with a 57-44 win over South Choctaw Academy.
Against South Choctaw, the Lady Raiders were led by Lizzie Williams and Cheryl Luquire, who each tallied a double-double. Williams finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Luquire had 18 points and 12 rebounds. Laura Ann White also scored in double figures for Lamar with 15 points.
Alanna Jackson scored 21 points and Kristi Clark had 10 for South Choctaw.
The Lady Raiders are 9-11 heading into tonight's division road game at Copiah Academy.
Noxubee Co. (boys) 67
Kemper County 62
Noxubee County held off a furious fourth quarter rally to take the five-point win over Kemper County on Tuesday night.
Kemper County outscored Noxubee 30-20 over the last eight minutes, but it wasn't enough as the Wildcats fell to 10-10 on the season.
Brandon Tate scored 25 to lead Noxubee County, while LaQuantis Horne added 13. Shardricus Thompson led Kemper County with 21, while Colby Wren scored 13 and Rodricus Hopson added 12.
Williams-Sullivan 65
Lake (boys) 45
Williams-Sullivan jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead on the way to the 20-point win over the Hornets on Tuesday night.
Tyrone Bobbitt scored 18 for Lake, while Ivon Hickmon had 10.
Leake (boys) 54
Simpson Academy 52
Charlie Lavender scored 17 points to lead the Leake Academy Rebels to the two-point win.
Daniel Jones scored 13 and Jay Allen 10 for Leake, while Neal Stephens scored 24 for Simpson.
Bay Springs 65
Bassfield (boys) 43
Bay Springs outscored Bassfield 28-9 in the second quarter on the way to the big win over Bassfield on Tuesday night.
The 14-5 Bulldogs were led by Reggie Shellwood with 15 points, while Ben Jones scored 12 and Terrence Smith added 10.
