    Obituaries for Friday, Jan. 2, 2004

    NEWTON Services for the Rev. John Harold Bethune Sr. will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James F. Webb funeral home in charge of arrangements.
    Rev. Bethune, 77, of Newton, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Newton Regional Hospital. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, the VFW, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and he earned a master's degree from Mississippi College. He taught for 25 years at Newton High School, Clark College and Topeka Tilton. He retired from pastoring after 35 years at Montpelier Baptist Church, Concord Baptist Church in Pelahatchie, New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello and Bethel Baptist Church in Newton.
    Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Bethune of Newton; two daughters, Lynn Carpenter and her husband, Gary, of Florence; Gael Ingram and her husband, Ralph Douglas, of Dallas, Ga.; two sons, Eddie Bethune of Newton and John Harold Bethune Jr. of Hattiesburg; a sister, Betty and her husband, Jeff, of Germantown, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Katy Carpenter and Juston Carpenter, of Florence; and Angela Ingram of Stockbridge, Ga.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Harold H. Bethune and Anna Barret Bethune.
    Pallbearers will be Virgil Williams, James Rowzee, Jim Mason, Randell Nelson, James Addy and Paul Chance.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Frank May, John Williams, Albert Carr, Thomas Humphreys, Tommy Coghlan and Ellis Chance.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
    Graveside services for Dollie Mae Mosley will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Daleville Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Mosley, 90, of Daleville, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2003, in her home.
    Survivors include her daughters, Gloria Mosley of Daleville, Gayle Butler and her husband, Jerry, of Orangeburg, S.C.; sons, Alton Mosley and his wife, Betty and Wallace Mosley and his wife, Shelia, all of Meridian; granddaughters, Nicole Mosley, Deanne Mosley, and Jennifer Mosley; grandson, Justin Mosley; and a special caregiver and family friend, Patricia Gully and family.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dee Mosley.
    Pallbearers will be Terry Mosley, Bill Mosley, Mose Fleming, Terry Cherry, Jack Davis and Terry Covington.
    Visitation will be Sunday from 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Services for James J. Stanford will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Stanford, 65, of Meridian, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include a daughter, Vickie Gray and her husband, Kerry, of Meridian; three grandchildren, Josh, Kara and Natt Gray; two sisters, Peggy Moss and her husband, Richard, of Phoenix and Sherry Kesselring and her husband, Chuck, of Homestead, Fla.; three brothers, John David Stanford of West Palm Beach, Fla., John C. Stanford and his wife, Sharlene, of Tucson and Daryl Stanford of Homestead, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be Sunday from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
    Services for Glory L. Grady will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Shucktown, with the Rev. Gregory Daniels officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Grady, 74, of the Shucktown Community, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include her husband, Shellie Grady of Shucktown; sons, Wallace Grady and his wife, Sandra, James Grady and his wife, Gail, all of Meridian, John Henry Grady and his wife, Earma, Lemi Grady and his wife, Yolanda, and Jerry Grady, all of Shucktown; daughters, Joan Grady of Meridian, Shellie Burrage and her husband, Alfongia, Hattie Holliday and her husband, Willie, Diann Baylor and her husband, Ervin, Glory Daniels and her husband, Greg, Betty Davis and Sandra Griffin, all of Shucktown; brothers, Hurbert Clark of Los Angeles, Norman Clark and his wife, Doris, of Victorville, Calif., Cobie Clark and his wife, Lucille, of Carson, Calif. and Lt. Clark and his wife, Hattie, of Meridian; a sister, Hazel Parker and her husband, Dan Henry, of Compton, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    YORK, Ala. Services for Ernest Moore Boyd will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Livingston Presbyterian Church with Sandra Price officiating. Burial will be in Myrtlewood Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Boyd, 91, of Livingston, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Hill Hospital in York.
    Survivors include his daughter, Mary Kay Cooper of Robertsdale; a son, Lanny Boyd of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Margaret Brannon of Livingston and Hattie Mary Holliman of Linden; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Telitha Boyd.
    Memorials may be made to Livingston Presbyterian Church or to a favorite charity.
    Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
    Graveside services for LaDerrick C. Bell will be held at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Enterprise Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Infant Bell, was born and died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 in Meridian.
    Survivors include parents, LaDonna Harris and Derrick Bell; a sister, A'Niyah Ball; maternal grandparents, Mary Parker and Ronny McDonald, all of Meridian; paternal grandfather, Gerald N. Bell Sr. of Toomsuba; five aunts, and one uncle.
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Deborah J. Bell of Toomsuba.
