    Services for Connie Rubin Smith will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Russell and Dr. Marcus Finch officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mr. Smith, 88, of Meridian, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was retired from Southern Railroad and a member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church for more than 44 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and served World War II in New Orleans and Puerto Rico.
    Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ethel Vegh Smith; children, Evelyn Massey, Mary Helen Harrison, Haskel Smith and his wife, Robin, and Hazel Brumfield and her husband, Jim; grandchildren, Jimbo Harrison, Brian Massey, Angie Foley, Chris Massey, Joshua Smith, Misty Dawn Elison and Dan Moody; step-grandchildren, Jessi Fason, Colby Fason and Charlie Brumfield; great-grandchildren, Gray Harrison, Leslee Kate Massey, Cage Massey, Erin Foley, Candace Foley and Nathan Foley and Baleigh Moody; a brother, Louis Smith of Poplarville; a sister, Evelyn Casey of Gulfport; two brothers-in-law, Steve Vegh Jr. and W.A. Webre of New Orleans; sisters-in-law, Joyce Owens, Lydia Webre of New Orleans, Mary Dell Smith of Poplarville, Hattie Smith of Alexandria, La., Laura Smith of Mobile, Ala., and Dot Smith of Poplarville.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Madie Smith of Derby; brothers, Homer, Dallas, Elmer, Henry and Edsel Smith; a sister, Helen Stines Ezell; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Smith.
    Memorials may be made to Oakland Heights Baptist Church Building Fund.
    Pallbearers will be Brian Massey, Chris Massey, Dan Moody, Brad Foley, Haskel Smith and Jimbo Harrison.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Neville Crenshaw, David Buntyn, Glenn Gaubert, Leo Massey, Jim Brumfield and Charlie Boswell.
    Visitation will be today 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Dot Webb will be held today at 1 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Revs. Charles Barnett and Tony Blanchard officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
    Mrs. Webb, 86, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
    Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Bailey Sloan of Marshall, Ark.; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Clara Matthews of Philadelphia.

    QUITMAN Services for Elbert "Pap" Ray Daugherty will be held today at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Stonewall with the Revs. Joe Gullick, Wilton Bennett, John Merck and Buddy Braddock officiating. Burial will be in the Daugherty family cemetery in Clarke County.
    Mr. Daugherty, 85, of Quitman, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Riley Hospital. He was a deacon and longtime member and worker of First Baptist Church in Stonewall. He was a veteran of the Marine Reserves.
    Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Anna Mary Daugherty; a son, Joseph Daugherty and his wife, Susan; a daughter, Gloria Ann Spivey and her husband, Sonny, all of Quitman; brothers, Gerald Daugherty and Ren Daugherty, both of Silas, Ala., J.L. Daugherty of Anniston, Ala., and Glen Daugherty of Scottsboro, Ala.; sisters, Lola Martin of Quitman, Eunice Booker of Brandon, Mildred Dent of Clara, Ouida Mixon of Silas and Thelma Powell of Mobile, Ala.; grandchildren, Suzette Lewis, Annette Holloman, Joey Daugherty and Melissa Farrar; nine great-grandchildren, Lee Lewis, Anna Lewis, Brent Holloman, Alex Holloman, Anthony Holloman, Kristen Griffith, Lane Daugherty, Carlee Grace Farrar and Jordan Farrar; and a special niece, Odett Daugherty.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Arnet Daugherty and Avie Davis Daugherty; brothers, Claud Daugherty, Carmen Daugherty, Harold Daugherty and Arnet Earl Daugherty; and sisters, Nolie Evans and Lula Frey.
    Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Stonewall Building Fund.
    Pallbearers will be Alex Holloman, Lee Lewis, Brent Holloman, Keith Holloman, Shawn Farrar, Donnie Earl Lewis, Bobby Ray Morlan and Mack Martin.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Taylor, Raymond Martin, Leo Bonner and Billy Priester.
    Visitation will be today one hour prior to service time at the church.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Winifred Willis will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Dwight Fleming officiating. Burial will be in Old Pearl Valley Cemetery in Philadelphia.
    Mrs. Willis, 77, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
    Survivors include her husband, Roy V. Willis; sons, Derrell Willis and Harold Willis, all of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Charlotte Nelson of Moscow, Idaho, Nan Burby of Chapel Hill, N.C., Waldine Wren and Doris Eubanks, both of Philadelphia; brothers, John Stuart of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ralph Stuart and Rudolph Stuart, both of Philadelphia.
    She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dr. Charles Harbour and Wendol Stuart.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    DEKALB Services for Elizabeth Eldridge will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at New Hope Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Eldridge, 84, of DeKalb, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Lunie Mowdy Stewart will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Bethsaida Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy James, Jerry McMullen and Clyde Butts officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. McClain-Hays Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Stewart, 88, of Philadelphia, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Riley Hospital. She was a native and lifelong resident of the Bethsaida Community in Neshoba County. She was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her children, Kenneth Mowdy of Hurley, Paul Junior Mowdy and his wife, Geraldine, of Philadelphia, Lorene Doner and her husband, Milton, of Collinsville, James Mowdy and his wife, Connie, and Dot Wilkerson and her husband, Bob, all of Philadelphia; a daughter-in-law, Faye Mowdy of Philadelphia; sisters, Bessie Nichols of Jackson and Eunice Wade of Columbus; a brother, W.J. Ward of Houston, Texas; step-children, Steve Stewart, Jim Stewart and Frankie Stewart; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charlie Mowdy and J.C. "Doc" Stewart; a son, Clinton Mowdy; a daughter-in-law, Betty Mowdy; a granddaughter, Tiffany Waddle; brothers, Wayne Ward, Garvis Ward, Marzine Ward and Howard Ward.
    Pallbearers will be Wilbur Mowdy, Keith Hawkins, Kerry Wilkerson, Kenny Pierce, Tim Hamilton and Kevin Mowdy.
    Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Stewart, Jeff Winstead, Jerry Jones, Willis White, Travis Tidwell and W.T. Porter.
    Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home and 30 minutes prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
