Roundup: MCC takes victory in tourney

J.J. Huggins and Danielle Cooper each scored 15 points to lead the Lady Eagles to a 92-69 win.
Silvo Harris added 11 points to help MCC pick up the victory in the Pensacola Tournament.
Nina Green scored 11 points to lead North Florida.
The Lady Eagles, 8-2, will play Pensacola Community College in the finals of the tournament.

Clarkdale (girls) 4
Neshoba Central 1
Emily Howard scored four goals to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 4-1 win over Neshoba Central.
Cassie Wiegand, Lauren Williams, Laura Pedroso and Chelseas Linton each had an assist for Clarkdale.
Briana Stinson scored the only goal for Neshoba Central.
The win moves Clarkdale to 4-2 for the season.

Candice White scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Lady Trojans.
Danielle Smith and Lindsey Tingle each added two goals and Ivy Rawson and Victoria Meek each scored a goal.
Smith had two assists to go with her two goals and Rawson had one assist. Eliza Gavin also added an assist for the Lady Trojans.
Northeast improves to 10-1-2 and will host Meridian Monday night.

Clarkdale 0
The Rockets blanked the Bulldogs in boys' soccer action.
Clarkdale coach Mark Taylor was impressed with his goalie's performance.
Scoring for Neshoba Central was unavailable.
Girls' Prep Basketball
Scott Central 59
Union 57
Scott Central picked up a close win over Union in basketball action Friday night at Union.
Quarnitra Murray had 20 points to lead Scott Central while Elyse Clay added 17. Latasha Johnson had 14 points for the Lady Rebels.
Lauren White led Union with a game-high 30 points, while Madison Brantley scored 11.
Newton 64
Lake 59
Newton outscored the Lady Hornets 22-10 in the second quarter to take the Division 5-2A win.
Lake led 14-10 after one period only to go into halftime with a 32-24 deficit. Newton led 48-36 through three periods.
Newton, 8-4, got 14 points from Tawayatha Evans, 12 from Jessica Anderson, and 10 from Karmeshea Jones.
Lake, 5-5, got 18 points from Arnitra Lay, 17 from Valerie Harris, and 14 from Courtney Norris.
