50th anniversary
Leavell and Fredna Cross recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. They were married Sept. 4, 1953, in the parsonage of Wesley United Methodist Church in Meridian. They have one child, Faye Cross of Atlanta. Mrs. Cross is the former Fredna Simmons.
56th anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Stokes celebrated their 56th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003. Mr. Stokes is a World War II veteran and a retired over-the-road truck driver. He has volunteered for Meals on Wheels since his retirement. Mrs. Stokes is a homemaker and a poll worker. The couple have three sons, Jerry Stokes, Charles Larry Stokes and his wife, Deborah, and Willie Robert Stokes; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Stokes are active members of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Collinsville, where Mr. Stokes serves as chairman of the Deacon Board and Mrs. Stokes serves as the home mission president.
