Meridian advances to state Pre-Majors

LAUREL The Meridian Pre-Majors not only won their district title with a two-game sweep of homestanding Laurel on Sunday, but they also made sure there would be a new World Series champion.
With the 9-6 and 10-7 wins Meridian moves to the Pre-Majors State Tournament in Clarksdale.
Kyle Boswell was the winning pitcher in the opener, as Meridian outhit the defending World Series champions 13-6.
Meridian scored three in the second, two in the third, two inthe fourth and two inthe fifth, while Laurel scored three in the first, one in the fourth, one in the fifth and one in the seventh.
Tyler McMullen and Corey Chance teamed up to three-hit Laurel in the second game.
