Rebels advance to 3rd roundv

HEIDELBERG The Heidelberg Academy Rebels advance to the third round of the MPSA Class 1 A baseball playoffs with a 13-8 win over Prentiss Christian here Thursday afternoon at Mitcb Gavin Field.
The Rebels (24-1) used the big bats of a trio of juniors to advance to the semi finals. Brent Welch, Matt Andrews, and Brooks Lewis all popped homeruns to lead an 11-hit attack for the Rebels.
Eight different Rebels hit safely in the game. The Rebels were waiting the outcome of the Winona vs. Strider final game to see who their next opponent would be.
The Rebels will be in action next Tuesday either at Winona or hosting Strider at 7:00 P.M. Games 2 and 3 of that series will be next Friday beginning at 4:30 P.M.
Prentiss Christian jumped ahead of the Rebels by scoring twice in the second inning to grab an early lead.
Heidelberg came alive in the third inning when Welch and Andrews hit back-to-back home runs. The Rebels added three more runs in the inning and used key singles by Mason Keys and Ryan Aultman.
One inning later the Rebels scored seven runs on only three hits. Welch, Aultman, and J. R. Stevenson had key singles in the uprising. The Rebels took
advantage of four walks and a Saints error to score the runs.

Prentiss Christian scored six runs in the fourth inning to trim the Rebels' lead to 12 -8.
Aultman, who was the winning pitcher hurled seven innings, allowed six hit, and fanned six in gaining the win. The Rebels added a solo run in the fifth to end the scoring on the day.
Welch, Aultman, and Lewis each had two hits for the winners. Joe McLeod, Derek Griffin, Stevenson, Andrews, and Key added solo hits for the winners.
Nick Daley led the Saints with two hits. Brent Myer clubbed a homerun for Prentiss Christian. Chris Kelly and Myers hurled for the visitors.
