Bids on upgrades to facilities of the Collinsville Water Association have been opened and taken under advisement, according to engineers with Kemp Associates.
The bids were opened Tuesday for improvements to the community water system, including a new well, treatment plant, water storage tank and related items.
Coupled with a distribution line contract previously awarded, the total improvements package represents a $1.5 million upgrade to a system that serves the fastest-growing area in Lauderdale County, said AICP Project Planner John McClure of Kemp Associates.
The Collinsville project is funded through a loan from the State Revolving Loan Fund administered by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality in cooperation with the Mississippi Department of Health.
Project Engineer Tom Childress said the package attracted 12 bidders six for the plant, three for the well and three for the tank. He said engineers were pleased with the response and the Collinsville Water Association Board is expected to act quickly on awarding contracts.
