Services for Dorothy Evelyn Currence will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Carless Evans Jr. and Kevin Jones officiating.
Mrs. Currence, 83, of Meridian, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was a member of Prospect Presbyterian Church. She was a cosmetologist for almost 50 years, most of which was at Everette's Beauty Shop.
Survivors include her daughters, Faye Odom, Ann Burt and her husband, Joe, and Joyce Jones; a son, Edwin Currence; grandchildren, Pattie Poythress and her husband, Jimmy, Randy Skipper and his wife, Kristie, Joey Burt and his wife, Brenda, Jerry Burt and his wife, Cindy, Anita Thorne and her husband, Billy, Debra Atkins and her husband, Terry, Jerry Jones and his wife, Tina; great-grandchildren, Dee Dee Dearman and her husband, Kiley, Jonathan Ishee, Jennifer Ishee, Heather Burt, Corey Burt, Brooke Burt, Hannah Poythress, Aaron Skipper, Ethan Skipper, Ashley Hardy, Kasey Burt, Conor Atkins, Lindsay Atkins, Haley Jones, Cara Speed, Chandra Speed and Chelsea Speed; a brother, Thomas Powell; and sisters, Wilhelmina Roberson and Joyce Wright and her husband, Sonny.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Currence; a daughter, Shirley Currence; a son, Jerry Currence; her parents, Tom and Ethel Powell; a brother, Hunter Powell; and sisters, Rebecca Davis and Geneva Dial.
Pallbearers will be Randy Skipper, Jimmy Poythress, Joey Burt, Jerry Burt, Jerry Jones, and Terry Atkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Ishee, Kiley Dearman, Aaron Skipper, Corey Burt and Conor Atkins.
UNION Services for Dorothy Stamper will be held today at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Reggie Williams and Mike Truhitt officiating. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery in Newton County. Milling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stamper, 72, of Union, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Pleasant Grove Community.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Stamper Hall of Shreveport, La.; three sons, Eddie Stamper and his wife, Debbie, of Decatur, Troy Stamper of Collinsville and Steve Stamper and his wife, Tammy, of Union; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Gearlene McLaurin and her husband, John, of Collinsville; a brother, Dolan Gilmore and his wife, Janice, of Forest; a special friend, Oree Nelson; and several friends, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marzell Stamper.
Pallbearers will be Clark Milling, Kenneth Craven, Jackie Knight, Roger Whitlock, Danny Joiner, Craig Stamper, Shawn Gilmore and Jason Gilmore.
YORK, Ala. Services for Sterling Braxton Bragg will be held today at 2 p.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Scott officiating. Burial will be in Shorts Cemetery in Sumter County, Ala.
Mr. Bragg, 56, of Strafford, Mo., died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in his home. He was retired from Frisco Railroad as a section foreman.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ann Bragg of Strafford; sons, Scotty Lee Bragg and his wife, Kimberly, of Mammoth Springs, Ark., and Nathan Shane Bragg of Strafford; a daughter, Amanda Dawn Bragg of Strafford; a brother, Parker Clay Bragg Jr. of Cuba, Ala.; a sister, Billie June Gourgues of Mobile, Ala.; and grandchildren, Jamie Allen Bragg, Rivers Lauren Avera Bragg and Cordale Walker Bragg.
Visitation will be today noon-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
QUITMAN Graveside services for Louise Elizabeth Long will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Antioch Cemetery with the Revs. E.B. Goodman Jr. and James R. Fleming officiating. Wright's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Long, 83, of Ellisville, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel.
Survivors include her sisters, Vallie Maude Fleming of Quitman, Lucile Goodman of Meridian; nieces and nephews, E.B. Goodman Jr. of Vernon, Ala., Granville Goodman and Unrue Goodman, both of Meridian, Kay Shipe of Lovettsville, Va., Karen Davis of Bassfield, James R. Fleming Jr. and Eugene Fleming, both of Springfield, Mo., Yvonne Mason of St. Charles, Mo., and Rachel Wenzler of North Jackson, Ind.; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be today beginning at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
BUTLER, Ala. Services for Talmadge Clayton Jenkins will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Crockerham officiating. Burial will be in Mosley Cemetery in Gilbertown. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jenkins, 88, of Gilbertown, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Mobile Infirmary.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle W. Jenkins, brothers, Preston Jenkins and Edgar Jenkins, all of Gilbertown; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sons, David Jenkins and Jerry Jenkins; and an infant daughter, Barbara.
Visitation will be Friday 9 a.m.-11 a.m. at the church.
Graveside services for Androckie Love will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Pentecostal Memorial Garden Cemetery in Russell. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Love, 27, resided Birmingham, Ala. His date of death is undetermined.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Love of Gainesville, Ala.; his father, Robert Love of Livingston, Ala.; sisters, Evelyn Ford of Birmingham and Rickitta Martin of Gainesville; brothers, Robert Love Jr. of Germany, Reginald Love and Jeremy Love, both of Livingston.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
