Learn how to succeed in restaurant business

By By Beth Randall / lauderdale county 4-H director
March 2, 2003
As you may remember from my previous news columns in recent months my job responsibilities have changed so that I am now working as county director in addition to my 4-H responsibilities.
Yes, I am learning lots of new things and working with new groups of people and I get to promote even more programs for adults.
This column is one I am writing with my county director hat. Over the past few months we have been working to bring to Meridian an excellent program for restaurant owners.
The first session is from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.; the session will be repeated from 2 p.m.-4 p.m.
The seminar is for you if you want to learn how to enhance your visibility and customer service, how to keep your food and labor cost from "eating away" your profits and why a few "locals" in the business are successful.
A team of university experts, combined with individuals in the Meridian restaurant scene, will share ways to manage food and labor costs and market your business through excellent customer service.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to hear success stories from local restaurateurs.
Sponsors for the event include Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus, East Mississippi Business Development Corp., Meridian Community College, Mississippi State University Small Business Development Center, Outback Steakhouse and Crescent City Grill.
There is no cost. Call the Lauderdale County Extension Service at (601) 482-9764 before March 26 to register or if you need more information or special accommodations.
