Osley steps up for ECCC

DECATUR Travares Osley was the scoring hero for the East Central Community College Warriors in last week's 6-3 triple-overtime upset of No. 2 Jones as he kicked two field goals.
Not bad for a linebacker whose kicking skills weren't supposed to come into play this fall.
When the Warriors' expected place-kicker struggled in a season-opening loss to Holmes, the ECCC kicking chores became a revolving door with Osley and Ken Triplett both getting their chances.
In addition to the two field goals, Osley, a 6-foot-1, 220-pound sophomore, more than carried his share of the load in his normal position of outside linebacker as he recorded a career-high 23 tackles to go with three assists, and one caused fumble.
It was definitely a night to remember.
Osley came to ECCC despite playing on a winless program his senior year at Hueytown, Ala.
Prior to the Jones game, Osley was ranked second in the state in solo tackles with 48. He now has 71 solos and 17 assists.
