The Irish dance show "Spirit of the Dance," seen by more than 25 million people around the world, will make a one-night stop in Meridian on Saturday.
Members of the high-energy dance show have been thrilling audiences since 1996 when the Irish International Dance Co. was formed. The show will stage one performance only at 7:30 p.m.
Twenty-three performers will present a two-hour show featuring traditional Irish dance, along with a combination of Latin rhythms, salsa, tango and flamenco dance moves.
The winner of awards for production and dance choreography, the show has smashed box office records in 15 countries. Two hundred and fifty dancers divided into seven separate dance troupes are touring the world.
Four are touring the United States and three in the United Kingdom.
Irish in origin and bursting with energy, "Spirit of the Dance" is a heart-pounding production featuring a spectacular blend of traditional culture.
The show, which began in New York on Sept. 7, employs dancers with the Irish International Dance Company who have "military precision that sends shivers down your spine."
The dancers of the Irish International Dance Company are mainly English and Irish. They train at the dance centers in London and Dublin.
