Meridian hosts Clarkdale today at NE complex

Several interesting contests and rematches highlight this week's action in girls' high school softball.
Today's card finds Meridian hosting 2001 Class 2A state runner-up Clarkdale at 7 p.m. at Northeast Park.
Choctaw Central hosts Newton County in a 5 p.m. contest in Division 5-3A action. Northeast Lauderdale hosts South Jones in a Division 5-4A contest between what are expected to be the league's top two teams at 6 p.m. at Northeast Park.
Southeast Lauderdale hosts Carthage in 5-3A action at 7 p.m. Newton hosts Neshoba Central in a 6 p.m. game at the ESCO Fields. Noxapater hosts Louisville in a 4:30 p.m. battle. Philadelphia hosts Heidelberg in a 5-3A contest at 6 p.m. at Burnside Park. Quitman hosts Laurel at 5 p.m. in 5-4A action.
In fast-pitch action, Leake Academy hosts Carroll Academy at 4 p.m.
Play resumes on Thursday with a rematch of last week's 6-5 Neshoba Central victory over defending Class 3A state champion Newton County. The Lady Rockets host Newton County at 6 p.m.
Another interesting matchup has West Lauderdale hosting Southeast Lauderdale in 5-3A action at 7 p.m. Clarkdale travels to Union for a 7 p.m. game. Northeast Lauderdale goes to West Jones for a 5-4A matchup at 6 p.m. Philadelphia travels to Carthage for a 5-3A matchup at 7 p.m. Also in 5-3A, Choctaw Central hosts Heidelberg in a 5 p.m. contest. Meridian travels to Brandon. Nanih Waiya goes to Louisville for a 5 p.m. doubleheader. Newton goes to Forest for a 6 p.m. game. Bay Springs hosts Morton in a 6 p.m. contest and Quitman visits South Jones in 5-4A action at 5 p.m.
No games are scheduled for Friday or Saturday.
