GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Samuel Earl Rogers Jr. will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Advent Cemetery is Silas.
Mr. Rogers, 80, of Gilbertown, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, in his home.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Cooper Rogers of Gilbertown; a son, Sammye Earl Rogers of Foley; daughters, Sheila Bunyard of Toomsuba and Nancy Valentine of Newton; brothers, Ray Rogers of Covina, Calif., Emory Rogers of Kingsport, Tenn., and Chester Rogers of Frazier Park, Calif.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

DEKALB Services for John Lee Boren will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Bay Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Tim Horton and R.L. Hunnicutt officiating. Burial will be in Bay Springs Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boren, 87, of Porterville, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Mississippi Health Care of DeKalb.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Boren of Porterville; two daughters, Ruth Key and Edna Eldridge, both of DeKalb; two sons, Henry Lee Boren of Porterville and James Edward Boren of Meridian; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Bolie Boren of DeKalb and Art Boren of Meridian; three sisters, Ella Puckett of Porterville, Pearl Collier and Margie McLean, both of Meridian.
Visitation will be today 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Franklin D. "Jack" Mayatt Sr. will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wallace Terry, Kim Culpepper and Craig Hitt officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Southern Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mayatt, 66, of the Martin Community, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He retired as a cooler manager at Meridian Coca-Cola Bottling Company after more than 32 years. He was a member of Antioch Southern Methodist Church and enjoyed farming as a hobby.
Survivors include his wife, Nell B. Mayatt of the Martin Community; a daughter, Terisa Pittman and her husband, Bo, of Homewood, Ala.; two sons, Jack D. Mayatt Jr. and his wife, Jana, and Cliff S. Mayatt and his wife, Kristen, all of the Martin Community; eight grandchildren, Jamie and Ryan Pittman of Homewood, Rush, McCain, Grant and Kennedy Mayatt, Hallie and Railey Mayatt, all of the Martin Community; his mother, Lula Mayatt of Martin; sisters, Mittie Hitt and her husband, Rodrick, of Collinsville and Johnnie Howle and her husband, Roth, of Union; brothers, Tom Mayatt and his wife, Mona, of Quitman and Gary Mayatt and his wife, Nettie, of Martin; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Mayatt; a brother, Bud Mayatt; and a niece, Lynette Odom.
Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Lummie Wright, Gary Frank Wright, Tim Wright, Matt Mayatt, Andy Mayatt, Scotty Mayatt, Shayne Mayatt, Mel Mayatt and Dusty Culpepper.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

DEKALB Services for Iona Drake will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Unity Springs Baptist Church in DeKalb with the Rev. Melvin Jenkins officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Drake, 89, of DeKalb, died Monday, July 1, 2002, at Leake Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
Survivors include her four brothers, Lancaster Greer and his wife, Eunice, of DeKalb, Calvin Greer of Houston, Tommy Greer and his wife, Jessie, of Saginaw, Mich., and Harold Greer and his wife, Leslie, of Meridian; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and nine siblings.
Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
IDELL SKINNER WHITTINGTON
GILBERTOWN, Ala. Services for Idell Skinner Whittington will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Don Whigham and James Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Brightwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Whittington, 80, of Toxey, died Tuesday, June 25, 2002, a Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Danny Whittington and his wife, Patty, of Silas and Evan Whittington of Gulf Shores, Ala.; daughters, Judy Stokley and her husband, Demar, of Toxey, Ginger Cowels and her husband, Ray, of Butler and Debbie Stafford and her husband, Jimmy, of Gilbertown; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and sister-in-law, Grace Whittington.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Whittington and an infant son.
Visitation will be Wednesday 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
