Busy bowling summer is here

The 37th Annual YABA State Tournament is set to begin this weekend at Dixie Bowl Lanes. For the next three weekends, approximately 75 teams of youth bowlers from across Mississippi will be competing for state championships in teams, doubles and singles events. If you child is already entered in the tournament, you should have received confirmation sheets with the dates and times he or she is scheduled to bowl. If you are unsure if your child is entered, you may contact Leon Fike or Candace Blackmon to find out. The local YABA would like to encourage all parents of youth bowlers to actively participate in the events. Volunteers are welcome to help visiting guests while at the lanes and to assist at the pool side parties at the Days Inn each Saturday during the tournament. The tournament will conclude July 14.
Meridian's 1st Annual Bowling Camp is slated to be held at Dixie Bowl July 22-26 for both youth and adult bowlers. Instruction in the basics of bowling will be provided by some of this area's top bowlers. A special drawing will be held Friday, July 26 for all participants. Cost is just $45 per person. You may register at Dixie Bowl or contact Betty Dorough at 282-2220.
The official final standings of the 55th Annual Mississippi State Bowling Tournament have now been tabulated. Team Event will pay 33 places, Doubles will pay 72 places and Singles will pay 148 places. A complete list of those cashing may be found online at www.bowling100.com.
Stan's Classic Tournaments will be presenting a Handicap Doubles Tournament each weekend beginning August 3-4 and concluding September 1-2 at Dixie Bowl. First Place is guaranteed $3000. Multiple participation will be allowed which means you may have up to three partners at one time. The entry fee is $60 per team ($30 per bowler) and $25 per bowler for additional partners in the same shift. Optional events will include High Game Pots and Brackets.
