Shirley, Lafferty

Charissa Lafferty of Meridian and Ben Shirley of Chunky were married Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002, at Northcrest Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Jones officiating. Prayer was led by the Revs. Malcolm Lewis and Wayne Campbell.
The parents of the couple are Carlton and Jane Lafferty, Larry and Christie Rainer and Roger and Carla Shirley.
Grandparents of the bride are the Rev. Tommy and Mary Jones, Rose Etta Caraway and the late Maurice B. Caraway ,and the late Cecil and Annie May Lafferty. The bride's great-grandmother is Eva Bell Riley.
Grandparents of the bridegroom are Leroy and Mary Crouch, Myrtle Irby and the late Ben Carpenter.
Nuptial music was provided by Paul and Missy Davis, organist, Sylvia Hosch, pianist; Tommy Alford, Patty Shelton and Bruce Thomas.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a ivory gown of dull satin featuring a Sabrina neckline with beaded spaghetti straps that crisscrossed in the back. The A-line gown was highlighted with appliques of seed pears and crystals and silver rocal beads. The hemline of the gown was decorated with piping and her skirt gently fell into a chapel-length train.
Traci Williams served as matron of honor. Other attendants were Brooke Sullivan, Myleia Shirley, Hollie Brand, Miranda Rainer, Shana Lafferty, Graham Pigford and Hannah Pickard, all of Meridian. Junior bridesmaids were Kenleigh Williams of Meridian and Rowan Green of Memphis, Tenn.
Tammy Green was the bride's proxy. Flower girl was Rebecca Jones of Louisville.
The father of the bridegroom served as best man. Groomsmen and ushers were Billy Fergerson of Great Falls, Mont., Caleb Brand, Smitty Smith, Chad Tibbetts, Josh Berdami, Chris Lafferty, Alec Gamblin, Chad Thompson, Bill Spence and Kelly Williams, all of Meridian, Will Porter of St. Louis and Joey Martin of Chattanooga, Tenn.
Ring bearer was Tray Mitchell of Meridian.
A reception was held in church gym following the ceremony.
Attendants at the reception were Sarai Clark, Amanda Stanton, Brookley Knight, Jamie Jones, April Williams, Capri Norris, Ashley Pickard, Megan Miller, Charity Dearman, Ashleyn Newell, Catlin Jones, Meredith Jones, Taylor Cumberland, Kimberly and Sharla Purvis, Karie Miller and McKenzie Ortlepp.
After a honeymoon in Greenville, S.C., the couple resides in Durham, N.C.
