Pet adoptions set for Saturday

Anyone looking for a pet can head to Bonita Lakes Mall on Saturday for "Homeward Bound," the Lauderdale County Humane Society's pet adoption project.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. inside the mall near J.C. Penney. Puppies and kittens will be available for immediate adoption.
The Humane Society has held the event three out of the last four months. Nearly 50 neglected and unwanted animals have been adopted during adoption days at the mall.
The Humane Society relies on volunteers to foster unwanted animals because a building is not available for the county's discarded animals. Interested families have often had difficulty finding out how to adopt these animals.
Organizers believe the mall is a good solution until a permanent shelter can be found.
