    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, NOV. 8, 2001

    Retired from El Paso Police Department
    Services for C.K. "Hank" Parks will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
    Mr. Parks, 76, of Meridian, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Scottish Rite, a master mason of Meridian Lodge 308 and 36th Army Division Association. He served in Italy and France during World War II.
    Mr. Parks was associated with Great Southern National Bank and Enterprise Car Rental.
    Survivors include his wife, Ann Hightower Parks of Meridian; a son, David Parks and his wife, Maria, of El Paso, Texas; two daughters, Marcia Smith and her husband, Jadie, of Amarillo, Texas, and Vicki Huggins of Austin, Texas; grandsons, Brian Kistler and his wife, Cathy, of Lusby, Md., Kirk Huggins of Cramerton, N.C., and Chris Parks of El Paso; granddaughter, Bianca Parks of El Paso; great-grandson, Dalton Kistler of Lusby; sisters, Betty Rice and her husband, Bob, of State College, Pa., and Margaret Harper and her husband, John, of Mt. Morris, Mich.; a special brother-in-law, the Rev. Ed Hightower and a sister-in-law, Sarah Potuck.
    The family requests memorials be made to Fifth Street United Methodist Church.
    Pallbearers will be Roy Hightower, Braxton Perry, Hodges Riggin, Don Wade, Charles Gray and Clayton Cobler.
    COL. JERRY E. ROUSE
    Retired U.S. Army, cattle rancher
    UNION Services for Col. Jerry E. Rouse will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Milling Funeral Home with the Rev. Kermit Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mr. Rouse, 86, of Union, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of service.
    Survivors include his wife, Martha Rouse of Union; two sons, Otto Rouse of Union and Richard Jerry Rouse of Germantown, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Paulette Rouse of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
    Pallbearers will be Will Rouse, Doug Branning, Dr. Niel Luke, Andy Rouse, Johnathan Morgan and Ian Rouse.
    Honorary pallbearer will be Danny McMullan.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    MYRTLE MAURINE HAND VINCENT
    Homemaker
    Services for Myrtle Maurine Hand Vincent will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Edward McKeithen, James Snowden and Mike Vick officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
    Mrs. Vincent, 88, of Collinsville, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Heartfelt Hospice. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
    Survivors include four generations of her family. They include six daughters, Sarah Lee Mixon, Rena Scarbrough, Jeffrey Mayatt, Sue Mosley and her husband, Norman, Elaine Gunn and her husband, Bill, Pat Kotouc and her husband, El, and a son, C.M. "Sonny" Vincent and his wife, Lavada, all of Collinsville; a sister, Annie Lee Nutt; two brothers, Ellis and Dennis Hand; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Melbourne Vincent, three grandchildren, Vincent Paul Kotouc, Lynette Mayatt Odom and an infant grandson, Johnathan Lee Mayatt; three sons-in-law, Louis Scarbrough, J.W. Mixon and Bud Mayatt; and a brother, Elmo Hand.
    Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    RUBY VALENTINE MAYES
    Retired clerk for Williams Drug Store
    NEWTON Services for Ruby Valentine Mayes will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Frank Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Pine Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mrs. Mayes, 82, of Newton, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Meridian. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and the Newton Regional Hospital Pink Ladies.
    Survivors include her husband, James P. Mayes of Lawrence; a daughter, Bettye Godwin and her husband, Charles, of Newton; a son, Albert Valentine and his wife, Margaret, of Rutherford, Tenn.; four stepdaughters, Sara Gentry of Hickory, Janie McMillan and Arlene Davis of Lawrence and Wanda Dials of Scooba; a sister, Louise Maske of Newton; five grandchildren, Janet Dowlen of Knoxville, Tenn., Laurie Baker and Katie Valentine of Rutherford, Adam and Ali Godwin of Newton; 10 step-grandchildren, Tim and Freddie Gentry of Hickory, Susan Finnegian of Newton, Casey and Ashley McMillan of Lawrence, Brian Smiley and Parker Dials of Scooba, Tish Smiley of Hattiesburg, Crystal and Ben Davis of Lawrence; and three great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Tempie McMullan Gaines; a sister, Mary Ruth McCraney; and two brothers, Robert and Louis Gaines.
