The Meridian Youth Soccer Organization is set to host the Rush Classic soccer tournament this weekend.
The tournament will bring in over 60 teams from across Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana and more than 800 players and coaches. The age groups range from under-eight to under-16 for both boys and girls.
"Putting on the Rush Classic each year is very much a cooperative effort of the MYSO, Rush Hospital, and the cIty of Meridian," said MYSO president Doug Kitchens. "Over the years, the Classic has developed a reputation among the state's recreational soccer teams as a quality event that the players, coaches, and parents really enjoy."
This will be the ninth annual tournament. It has been sponsored by Rush Hospital for the past seven years.
The games will be played at the Jaycee Soccer complex, the Northeast Recreational Complex, Kate Griffin Junior High School, and the Meridian High practice fields.
