    OBITUARIES FOR THURSDAY, OCT. 11, 2001

    JEWELL NEWTON COKER
    Retired supervisor with Burnley Shirt Co.
    Services for Jewell Newton Coker were to be held today at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Henson officiating. Burial was to be in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mrs. Coker, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Queen City Nursing Center. She was a member of Arrowood Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Hubert Coker, a daughter, Judy Creel and her husband, Tony, grandchildren, Shannon, Bayleigh and Kelsey Creel, all of Meridian; two sisters, Myrtis Williams and her husband, Hershel, of Martin and Helen Spivey of Center Hill; a brother, Jamie Newton of Bailey.
    Pallbearers will be her nephews.
    OTTIS BRANNON CASTLE

    QUITMAN Services for Ottis Brannon Castle was to be held today at 10 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gary McInnis and Mitchell McDonald officiating. Burial was to be in Harmony Cemetery.
    Mr. Castle, 80, of Quitman, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Wayne General Hospital.
    Survivors include his wife, Opal Castle, two sons, Kenny Castle and his wife, Shelia, James Castle and his wife, Patricia, and a daughter, Wanda Shirley and her husband, Stanley, all of Quitman; and a sister, Mary Ruth Eddins of Pachuta; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Castle and Addie Elkins Castle; and a brother, Elkins Castle.
    MABLE BEARDEN
    Graveside services for Mable Bearden will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery. James F. Webb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Bearden, 89, of Moss Point, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, in Pascagoula.
    Survivors include a daughter, Bobbie Jean Hendley of Moss Point; a son, Terry Wayne Bearden and his wife, Sandra, of Meridian; a sister, Susie S. Byrd of Causeyville; two brothers, Marty Stephens and Walter Stephens, both of Collinsville; grandchildren, Deborah Hansen and her husband, Mark, John A. and Karen Hendley, Cheryl W. and Garland Weaver, Wendy and Rick Parker, Ronald Dale and Patricia Bearden, Bobby Wayne Bearden, Terri Bearden and Christopher Wayne Bearden; great-grandchildren, Allen and Brandy Hendley, John M. and Kristi Short, Michael Short, Lafeton Hansen, Bobbie Lea Hansen and Bobby Bearden; two great-great-grandchildren, John Austin Short and Amber Parker.
    LINNIE COBB WEDGEWORTH

    YORK, Ala. Services for Linnie Cobb Wedgeworth will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Yount officiating. Burial will be in York Cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Wedgeworth, 95, of York, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Sumter Health and Rehab Center.
    Survivors include two nieces and two nephews.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    KEEMYIA S. BROWN
    DEKALB Graveside services for Keemyia S. Brown will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem Cemetery with the Rev. Eastman Moses officiating. E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Infant Brown, 5 days-old, of DeKalb, died Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at University Medical Center in Jackson.
    Survivors include her parents, KimKeshia Currie and Derall Brown, both of DeKalb; grandparents, Betty Currie of DeKalb, Kathy Granger and John Granger, both of Scooba; great-grandparents, Smithee Currie and Sylvester Currie, both of DeKalb, Annie Dale Brown and Erica Brown, both of Macon; and several other relatives and friends.

    DEKALB Services for Robert Lee Tyler will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Green Hill Baptist Church in Toomsuba with the Rev. S.M. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery with E.E. McDonald Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Tyler, 66, of Toomsuba, died Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in his home.
    Survivors include his wife, Rilla Tyler of Toomsuba; three daughters, Charlie B. Warren of Toomsuba, Robin Lattimore of Syracuse, N.Y. and Cappiella Cloud of Detroit; five sons, Alexander L. Tyler of Toomsuba, Lorenzo Tyler of New York, Levon Tyler and his wife, Stacy, of Memphis, James Lemon of Baton Rouge, La. and DeRose Richardson of Columbus, Ohio; four sisters, Ruth White, Emma Jackson and Egella Eason, all of Toomsuba, Lucy Barney and her husband, Luther, of Flint, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be Friday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Chapel in Meridian and Saturday one hour prior to the service at the church.
    ORA M. HOPSON

    Services for Ora M. Hopson will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Cephus Baptist Church with Elder Sealy officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Hopson, 74, of Porterville, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include her husband, Jessie Hopson of Porterville; three daughters, Brenda Thedford of Lauderdale, Asalean Kirkman and Mary Hopson, both of Chicago; two sons, Layman Gowdy of Scooba and William Gowdy of Lauderdale; seven sisters, Eva Clay, Alice Hopson and Dorothy Lavender, all of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Annie Gibbs of Eutaw, Ala., Sallie Eades and Gladys Jemison, both of Porterville and Mary Lowe of Chicago; three brothers, David Gowdy and Nathan Gowdy, both of Chicago and Walter Gowdy of Porterville; 10 stepchildren, 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Friday from 8:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

    MONTEVALLO, Ala. Services for Oscar Bernard "Bernie" Moore will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Wilton with the Rev. Tom Hammett officiating. Graveside services will be held at Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Rockco Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
