    OBITUARIES FOR TUESDAY, SEPT. 25, 2001

    HERMIE ELIZABETH NANCE PEELER
    Homemaker
    RIPLEY Services for Hermie Elizabeth Nance Peeler will be held today at 11 a.m. at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. King McCarver officiating. Burial will be in Beech Hill Cemetery.
    Mrs. Peeler, 93, of Ripley, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Beverly Heath Care.
    Survivors include three sons, Billy Peeler and his wife, Maxine, Phil Peeler and his wife, Dianne, all of Ripley, and Fred H. Peeler of Ashland; two daughters, Martha Peeler Hopkins and her husband, Gene, of Hernando and Carol Peeler Jarvis and her husband, Bill, of DeKalb; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Grace Peeler Graves and three brothers.

    Sales clerk with McRae's
    QUITMAN Services for Kittye Faith Flint will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. John Edwards and Roy Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Crossroads Cemetery.
    Mrs. Flint, 60, of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include a son, Joseph Barnes of Jackson; a stepson, Robbie Vickers of Chunky; stepdaughters, Patti Collins, Hope Black and Becky Ellison, all of Meridian; two sisters, Opal Cochran of Miami and Gladys Sullivan of Trapp, Md.; three brothers, Thomas Flint and Darby Flint, both of Philadelphia, and Ben Flint of Phenix City, Ala.; and five step-grandchildren.
    JOHN PRESTON WALTERS
    UNION Services for John Preston Walters will be held today at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Franklin McClelland and Rusty Walton officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
    Mr. Walters, 85, of Union, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, in Meridian.
    Survivors include his wife, Fannie Walters of Union; two sons, Ronald Walters of Union and Donald Walters of Newton; a daughter, Delphine Knight of Butler, Ala.; a brother, Rufus Walters of Little Rock; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by a son, John Harvell Walters; four brothers and four sisters.
    Pallbearers will be Dan Wright, Ceburn Gordon, Scottie Walters, Randy Walters, Clint Mott, Wayne McCraw, Tim Barnett and Danny Walters.
    MARY A. GORDON
    Retired from East Mississippi State Hospital
    Services for Mary A. Gordon will be held today at 3 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmie Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Gordon, 56, of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2001, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbindale, Minn.
    Survivors include her mother, Mattie Turnipseed of Minneapolis; husband, Frank Gordon, two daughters, Tonia Royal and her husband, Jerry, and Cassandra Boddie and her husband, Dale, all of Meridian; a son, Ellington Dewayne Mercer, a sister, Sarah Turnipseed, and a brother, Grady Darrell, all of Minneapolis; and seven grandchildren, La Shanda Boddie, Ra Sheda Boddie, Antoine Boddie, Kenyatta Gaines, Sabrina Royal and Citiffani Clark, all of Meridian; and Jade Love of Memphis, Tenn.
    ARTHUR B. EGGLER
    Retired Mississippi Air National Guard
    Services for Arthur B. Eggler will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oakland Heights United Methodist Church with the Revs. Greg Clemts, Timothy Beard, Jason Gross and Ann Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Eggler, 82, of Meridian, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian. He was born June 21, 1919, in La Crosse, Wis.
    Mr. Eggler retired from the 186th Base Supply of the Mississippi Air National Guard as chief master sergeant. He served in World War II in North Africa and the Mediterranean Theater with the 985th Field Artillery Battalion out of Mauston, Wis.
    He was a charter member of Oakland Heights United Methodist Church and a member of the Crusade Sunday School Class of Oakland Heights. He served as Lay leader for his local church, the Meridian District and the Mississippi Conference of the United Methodist Churches. Mr. Eggler was also a well-known Lay speaker in the Methodist church.
    Survivors include a son, Arther B. Eggler Jr. and his wife, Jan, of Collinsville; two daughters, Wanda K. Griffen and her husband, Mike, of Meridian and Julia R. Clemts and her husband, Greg, of Vicksburg; seven grandchildren, Denise Johnson of Meridian, Nikki Shaw of Toomsuba, Wendy Eggler of Meridian, Greggory Clemts of Edgewood, Ill., Joseph Clemts of Vicksburg, Diana Eggler of Collinsville and Andrew Clemts of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren, Zach Johnson and Nate Johnson, both of Meridian, Erin Shaw and Baylee Shaw, both of Toomsuba; a sister, Irene Eltag and her husband, Sam; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Rhodes, Julia A. Smith and Nannie Mae Bowdon, all of Meridian; a brother-in-law, Robert Earl McCann of Horn Lake; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizze R. Eggler; his parents, John Joseph and Ida Wedel Eggler; and two brothers, Edward and Wilber Eggler.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Oakland Heights United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
    Pallbearers will be Greggory Clemts, Joseph Clemts, Andrew Clemts, David Johnson, Bill Rushing, Harold Catlett, Walter Ivey, Joe Sneed and A.H. Buchanan.
    Honorary pallbearers will be retired members of the 186th ANG Base Supply and others, the Crusades Sunday School Class of Oakland Heights United Methodist Church.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
