Welcome mat out for new commander at Montgomery Naval Reserve Center

Replacing a native son in any local position is difficult, and when the center you will head has the name G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery attached to it, expectations really go up.
But from all indications Lt. Commander Mark K. Fields is up to the job. Fields assumed temporary command of the Montgomery Naval Reserve Center in Meridian last Saturday.
He replaces Lt. Commander Randy C. Reeves, of the Newton County community of Little Rock, who has been assigned as service worker officer on the USS Yorktown.
Fields will actually be doing double duty. He is commander of the Naval Reserve Center in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and will serve as interim commander in Meridian until a new commander is named in November.
This statewide Naval Reserve Center was relocated to Meridian thanks to the diligence and hard work of Montgomery, who so capably represented Mississippi's Third Congressional District and who has been so attentive to all aspects of military and veterans affairs.
We salute Reeves for a job well done and wish him well on his new assignment, and welcome Fields to his new duties at this important Mississippi facility.
