    OBITUARIES FOR TUESDAY, AUG. 28, 2001

    MARY ALICE BROOKSHIRE ROYALS

    JACKSON Mary Alice Brookshire Royals, 85, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Highland Home in Ridgeland. Graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian. Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    A native of Meridian, Mrs. Royals served as vice president of the family ice cream business, Brookshire Dairy Products. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson and a resident of Jackson for more than 50 years.
    Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Royals of Jackson and Charles Royals of San Mateo, Calif.; two granddaughters, Lee Ann and Katie Royals of Jackson; two grandsons, Brooks Royals and Adam Patterson of San Mateo; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Brookshire of Meridian; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Eula Cooper Brookshire and Newton Duncan Brookshire Sr.; brothers, Newton Duncan Brookshire Jr. and William Carroll Brookshire; and a sister, Rose Brookshire Ryan.
    The family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 250, Jackson, MS 39205 or Hospice Ministries Inc., 450 Town Center Blvd., Ridgeland, MS 39157.
    SAMMIE ADAMS

    Graveside services for Sammie Adams will be held today at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in the House Community with the Rev. Seibert Killen officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Miss Adams, 105, of the House Community, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was born Oct. 27, 1895, in the House Community of Neshoba County to Hugh Harrison Adams and Lillie Florence Combs. She was the oldest and last surviving of eight children and lived on the family farm until age 99 when she became a resident of Meridian Convalescent Center. Miss Adams attended Circle Hill School and House School. She also attended Newton County and Greene County Agricultural High Schools and Normal College in Newton.
    Miss Adams was a school teacher at Circle Hill and House Schools in Neshoba County until her retirement. She also engaged in farming activities with her parents and was active in local politics for many years. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church since August 1922.
    Survivors include six nephews, George P. Beard Jr. of Pensacola, Fla., P.O. Beard of Pearl, Robert L. "Bernie" Beard of Wichita Falls, Texas, Charles Donald Adams of Ocean Springs, Douglas Mack Adams and Kenneth Wayne Adams, both of Meridian; two nieces, Celia Bearce of Carmichael, Calif. and Faye Reid of Daleville; a sister-in-law, Mygnone Wright Adams of Quitman; 15 grand-nephews, 14 grand-nieces, 18 great-grandnephews, 12 great-grandnieces and a great-great-grandnephew.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh Harrison Adams and Lillie Florence Combs; brothers, Dolphus Allen Harrison, Mose Wilson Adams, Hugh Henry Adams and John Whittle Adams; sisters, Addie Adeline Beard, Maude Aramatha Beard, James Rush "Teets" Speed, Lura Vivian "Fritz" Harrison; a nephew, Willie Hugh Beard; and a niece, Minnie Florence Patton.

    UNION Services for Glenda J. Singleton will be held today at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church with the Revs. Roger Ivey and Byron Howell officiating. Burial will be in Beulah Cemetery with Milling Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Singleton, 54, of Enterprise, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Old Fellowship Baptist Church.
    Survivors include her husband, Robert E. Singleton of Enterprise; three sons, Darren Couch of Virginia Beach, Va., Allen Couch of Navarre, Fla. and Kevin Singleton of Enterprise; a stepdaughter, Angela Harrison of Morton; her mother, Jessie Faye Jenkins of Union; a sister, Marlyn Werner of St. George, Utah; two brothers, Johnny Jenkins of Madison and Keith Jenkins of Bolton; and four grandchildren.
    Pallbearers will be Terry Abercombie, Tony Jackson, Stone Barefield, Billy Murphy, Patti Tindall and Harry Kay Collins.

    PHILADELPHIA Services for John T. Drake will be held today at 1 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Vernell Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery.
    Mr. Drake, 68, of Philadelphia, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Riley Hospital. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
    Survivors include his wife, Edna Drake of Philadelphia; three daughters, Neva Malone and Constance Crawford, both of Philadelphia, and Diana Lucas of Welsh, La.; two sons, Justin Moore of Philadelphia and Dofton Moore of Helena, Ark.; three sisters, Katie Tingle of Philadelphia, Rilla Houston of Jackson and Frances Coltharp of Oxford; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
    ELZINA BAZOR MILLING

    PHILADELPHIA Services for Elzina Bazor Milling will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Drs. Dan Howard and Eugene Dobbs officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Milling, 89, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Neshoba County General Hospital.
    Survivors include her sister, Bess L. Cook and her husband, Mark, of Akron, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bazor of Trussville, Ala; and several nieces and nephews.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    ELIZABETH ROSS BOSARGE
    YORK, Ala. Services for Elizabeth Ross Bosarge will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home. Burial will be in York Cemetery.
    Mrs. Bosarge died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, in Augusta, Ga. She was born in Sumter County, Ala., on Dec. 27, 1910, and was a resident of Mobile for the past four years.
    Survivors include two daughters, Betsy Ross of Irvington, Ala. and Sandra Cole of Augusta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Maryelizabeth Rehman of Gulfport, Janice Collier of Theodore, Carlton Ross Jr. of Irvington, Sanford Ross of Abbeville, La., Chris Cole of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Bryan Cole of Martinez, Ga.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    The family requests memorials be made a favorite charity.

    Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home of DeKalb for Annie M. Rush, 64, of DeKalb, who died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at The Speciality Hospital of Meridian.

    Arrangements were incomplete at Barham Funeral Home for Viola J. Hagan, 75, of Meridian, who died Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
