OBITUARIES FOR SATURDAY, AUG. 25, 2001

AUDINE MATTHEWS IRONS
Retired factory worker
UNION Services for Mrs. Audine Matthews Irons will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Revs. Kevin Meador and Ken French officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mrs. Irons, 78, of Union, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Union.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita O. Allen of Kingsport, Tenn., Jeanette McClinthen of Union and Sheila Crenshaw of Roanoke, Va.; two sons, Richard L. Irons of Union and Tim M. Irons of Duluth, Minn.; a sister, Kathlene Mabry of Chunky; three brothers Clark Matthews of Union, Rudolph Matthews of Linwood and Lahoma Matthews of Greenwood; 18 grandchildren, Teresa Slagle, Renee Dobrovolc, James Allen Jr., Michelle Gilley, Jack Rivers III, Johnny Rivers, Tiffany Trull, Jason Ferguson, Tammy Plaisance, Richard Irons Jr., Larae Wilkerson, Scott Irons, Michael Irons, Kimberly Irons, Brandon Irons, Kayla Irons, Brandy Crenshaw and David Crenshaw Jr.; and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin L. Irons.
Pallbearers will be Jack Rivers, Jason Ferguson, James Allen Jr., David Crenshaw Jr., Richard Irons Jr., Scott Irons, Vince Trull and Brandon Irons.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

QUITMAN Services for Luke "Mick" Evans Sr. will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Enterprise, with the Rev. Al Wilson officiating. Burial will be in East Cemetery with Berry and Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Evans, 57, of Enterprise, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001, in his home.
Survivors include a son, Ricky Naylor of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; five daughters, Lydia Naylor and Mildred Naylor, both of Meridian, Tracy Johnson of Forest Park, Ga., and Mary Ann Evans and Sandra Evans, both of Enterprise; a brother, Robert Evans Sr., and a sister, Louise Davis, both of Enterprise; two step-brothers, Frank Jones of Enterprise and James P. Jones of Chicago; four step-sisters, Mildred Simmons of Enterprise, Lula Johnson and Patsy Jones, both of Chicago, and Angie Perry of Memphis; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Evans, and two sons.
Visitation will be Sunday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
CHARLES BURGESS BRITTON
Retired from Turner Supply Co. in Mobile
MACON Graveside services for Charles Burgess Britton will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Cooksville United Methodist Cemetery in Macon, with the Rev. Philip Palmertree officiating. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Britton, 82, formerly of Noxubee County, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, in Mobile.
Survivors include nine nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Ethel Earl Underwood Britton, four brothers and three sisters.
The family requests memorials be made to Cooksville United Methodist Cemetery.

Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Veta Mae Curry, 75, of Meridian, who died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2001, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian.
