    OBITUARIES FOR FRIDAY, AUG. 17, 2001

    CHARLES STEVENS
    Retired mechanic
    UNION Services for Charles "Tom B." Stevens will be held today at 2 p.m. at Rock Branch Baptist Church with the Revs. Rusty Walton and Bobby Barfoot officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Stevens, 76, of Decatur, died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, in his home. He was a member of Rock Branch Baptist Church.
    Survivors include five daughters, Mary Williams and Rosie Boyd, both of Meridian, Jane Reese of Union, Patsy Black and Elmer Jenkins, both of Decatur; three sons, Ruben Stevens of Meridian, Bobby Stevens of Decatur and Danny Stevens of Union; a sister, Lorena Ford of Monroe, La.; a brother, Frank Johnson of Jackson; 21 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Stevens; and a son, Charles "B.B." Stevens.
    Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tony Terrell, Ricky Wayne Stevens, Marty Stevens, Bobby Jo Smith, Jason Stevens and "Bo" Jenkins.
    Honorary pallbearers will be James Stanford and Charlie Hagan.
    Visitation will be today from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
    MARY KATHERINE DUNN
    Retired beautician
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Mary Katherine Dunn will be held today at 4 p.m. at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. David Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
    Mrs. Dunn, 72, of Philadelphia, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include three daughters, Sherry York, Kathy Long and Peggy Lee, all of Philadelphia; three sisters, Jewel Jackson and Elaine McAdory, both of Philadelphia, and Sue Sheppard of Noxapater; four brothers, Leon Price, Glenn Price and Robert Price, all of Philadelphia, and Johnny Price of Noxapater; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
    JAMES K. JONES
    Graveside services for James K. "Smokey" "Paw" Jones will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Bishop officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Jones, 80, of Toomsuba, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice.
    Survivors include a stepson, James C. White of Meridian; two grandchildren, Roger White and his wife, Sherry, of Toomsuba and Scott White of Meridian; and three great-grandchildren.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Lee Jones.
    Visitation will be Saturday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
    DONNA DELOISE PEDEN
    Army National Guard
    Services for Donna Deloise Peden will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Robert Newson officiating. Burial will be in Daleville Cemetery with Latimer Metropolitan Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Ms. Peden, 19, of Meridian, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, in Fairfax, Va.
    Survivors include her mother, Lucille Peden, three sisters, Kim Peden, Lisa Peden and Ashley Peden and a brother, Terry Peden, all of Meridian.
    Visitation will be today from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
    DOROTHY E. HOLMES
    Retired medical secretary
    JACKSON Services for Dorothy E. Holmes will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. in Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.
    Mrs. Holmes, 77, of Terry, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center. She was a native of Yazoo City. Mrs. Holmes had been a resident of Terry for the past 44 years. She was a commucant of St. John's Catholic Church in Crystal Springs.
    Survivors include three daughters, Linda Trigg of Madison, Janet Buchanan of Meridian and Donna Berryhill of Cheney, Wash.; a son, Greg Holmes of Gulfport; two brothers, Mike Weber of Madison and Otto Weber Jr. of Yazoo City; a sister, Ann Butler of Vicksburg; six grandchildren, Sean Buchanan, Jana Buchanan, Brian Holmes, Jay Holmes, Charley Berryhill and Chaay Berryhill.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto F. and Huberta McGraw Weber Sr.; and her husband, Dr. Angus Gregg Holmes, who died in 1964.
    The family requests memorials be made to St. John's Catholic Church, P.O. Box 167, Crystal Springs, MS 39059.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. today.
    EVELYN C. HUGHLEY
    Retired bank employee
    Services for Evelyn C. Hughley will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Poplar Springs Drive Methodist Church, with the Rev. Richard Robbins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Hughley, 88, of Meridian, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was retired from the banking profession. Mrs. Hughley was a member of Poplar Springs Drive Methodist Church, Crusaders Sunday School Class and Young Methodist Women's Group.
    Survivors include two sons, Rev. Walter C. Hughley and his wife, Janis of Richton, David H. Hughley and his wife, Susan, of Meridian; four grandchildren, Shari Tanner of Mobile, Ala., David A. Hughley of Jacksonville, Fla., Brian B. Hughley of Langley Air Force Base, Va., and Brad A. Hughley of Atlanta; and four great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Hughley.
    Visitation will be today from 4:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
    MARY OLIVE ROGERS
    CALERA, Ala. Services for Mary Olive Rogers will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darryl Nichols officiating. Charter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Rogers, 59, of Calera, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001. Mrs. Rogers graduated from West Jersey Hospital, School of Nursing in June 1963. Her last place of employment was at the Mississippi Youth Corrections Facility Medical Clinic in Raymond, Miss.
    Survivors include Bill Keller of Monroeville, Ala., David Keller of Tampa, Fla., Troy Rogers of Port Allen, La., Teddy Keller of Calera, Kenneth Rogers of Jackson, Miss., six grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Mary Rogers Memorial Fund, 145 Camden Lake Drive, Calera, AL 35040.
    CAROLYN NADINE HAMPTON
    Services for Carolyn Nadine Hampton will be held Sunday at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Preston, with the Rev. Chester Rush officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with James L. Osby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Hampton, 50, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at Riley Hospital.
    Survivors include a son, Sammie Hampton Jr. of Meridian; her mother, Bernice Griffin of Meridian; five sisters, Gannette Spraggas and Ethel Fitzpatrick of Battle Creek, Mich., Betty Curtis, Beretha Kennedy and Kimberly Griffin, all of Meridian; five brothers, Larry Pierce and William Griffin, both of Meridian, Fredrick Pierce, George Pierce and Ronnie Bell, all of Battle Creek.
    Visitation will be Saturday from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at E.E. McDonald Funeral Chapel.
    MATTIE BRAZEAL
    Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Mattie Brazeal, 82, of Meridian, who died Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at Benchmark Health Care.

    Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Annie P. Cole, 48, of Meridian, who died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2001, in her home.
