    OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, JULY 9, 2001

    WASHINGTON, D.C. Graveside services for Elizabeth "Bettie" Bartels will be held Friday at 9 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery with Joseph Gawler's Sons Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Bartels, 73, of Meridian, died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation.
    Survivors include four brothers, Milton Snow and his wife, Jean, of Hope Valley, R.I., Donald Snow and his wife, Ginger, Russell Snow and Kenny Snow, all of North Kingston, R.I.; three sisters, Beverly Mann and her husband, Robert, of Exeter, R.I., Cynthia Lipscomb of Lynchberg, Va. and Shirley Snow of Rhode Island.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald P. Bartels; parents, Robert and Bertha Snow; a sister, Judy Martin and a brother, Robert C. Snow Jr.
    The family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
    DALTON NEAL HERRIN
    Graveside services for Dalton Neal Herrin will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Luquire officiating. Barham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Infant Herrin, of Panama City, Fla., died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City.
    Survivors include his mother, Kimberly Sellers and his father, Joe Herrin, both of Panama City; maternal grandmother, Lillian Sellers of Meridian; paternal grandparents, Jim and Gloria Laster of Kemp, Texas; maternal grandfather, David Sellers of Alabama; and paternal grandfather, Joe Herrin of Kemp.
    LEE LONG
    East Mississippi Community College student
    PHILADELPHIA Services for Lee Long will be held today at 3 p.m. at Coye Assembly of God Church with the Revs. Lawrence Pool and Ray Luke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with McClain-Hays Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
    Mr. Long, 20, of Preston, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, in Philadelphia. He was born in Greenwood and lived in Kemper County all his life. He was a graduate of Kemper Academy Class of 2000 and attended ECCC in Decatur from 2000-2001. Mr. Long was currently attending EMCC in Scooba. He was an active baseball player and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Coye Assembly of God Church in Preston.
    Survivors include his parents, Lonnie and Jan Long of Preston; his paternal grandmother, Virginia Long of Greenwood; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William Robert Long and his maternal grandparents, Oscar and Louise Wyatt.
    Pallbearers will be Stan Copeland, Drew Sullivan, Kenny Mason, Andy Perry, Justin Sciple, Jason Perry, Lee McDonald, Stevie McDonald and Richie Clark.
    Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his high school baseball team.
    MARGUERITE G. DAVIS
    Homemaker
    Services for Marguerite G. Davis will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Allen Dearing and Clay Chancelor officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
    Mrs. Davis, 87, of Meridian, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Guardian Angel Hospice in Marion.
    Survivors include two sons, Harlan L. Davis and his wife, Esta Nell and Kenneth S. Davis and his wife, Angela B., all of the Topton Community; a daughter, Jan LaRue and her husband, Jim, of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren, Jeff Davis and his wife, Donna, Brittany and Kayla Davis and Michelle LaRue of Oxford; a great-grandchild, Lane Davis; a sister, Mathalie Gunn and a brother, J. Barney Gunn Jr. and his wife, Marge, all of Meridian.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, H.L. "Red" Davis and a grandson, Patrick Davis.
    Visitation will be today from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    MARY OTIS BROWN

    DEKALB Services for Mary Otis Brown will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Blackwater Baptist Church. Burial will be in Blackwater Cemetery with Stephens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Brown, 85, of DeKalb, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
    Survivors include a son, William B. Brown of DeKalb; a daughter, Carolyn Smith of Troy, Mich.; two grandchildren, Mary Ellen Brown of DeKalb and Catherine Smith of Jackson; a brother, James Melvin Clark and a sister, Lucille Frederickson, both of Meridian.
    She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Mosley; her husband, Barney B. Brown; and her parents, James H. and Leora Cook Clark.
    Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
    PRESTON L. FELTS
    Construction employee
    Services for Preston L. Felts will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Felts-Young Cemetery in Richton.
    Mr. Felts, 95, of Richton, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, in his home.
    Survivors include two sons, James L. Felts of Waynesboro and William L. Felts of Richton; a daughter, Retha J. Stutie of Lauranceville, Ga.; two sisters, Bea Warren of Picayune and Lee Morris of Augusta, Ga.; a brother, R.L. Lewis of Laurel; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
    Visitation will be today from 5:30 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
    NANCY MOORE
    Homemaker
    Services for Nancy Moore will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Pearlie Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Goodwin officiating. Berry and Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Mrs. Moore, 48, of Shubuta, died Friday, July 6, 2001, in her home.
    Survivors include a daughter, La Tasha Moore of Shubuta; two sons, Kevin Moore of Meridian and Willie B. Moore Jr. of Shubuta; her parents, Harry and Katie Dear of Quitman; five sisters, Joyce Marshall, Rosie Dear, Barbara McCree, Alice McGee and Deborah Joyce Dear, all of Quitman; two brothers, David Dear of Shubuta and James Daryl Dear of Paulding; and three grandchildren.
    Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Quitman.
