OBITUARIES FOR FRIDAY, JUNE 22, 2001

MARY ALICE DAVIDSON SHIRLEY

Services for Mary Alice Davidson Shirley will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Elder Paul LeBlanc officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Causeyville.
Mrs. Shirley, 81, of Meridian, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at H.C. Watkins Memorial Hospital in Quitman.
Mrs. Shirley was a member of Meridian's First Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Survivors include her son, K.R. Shirley and his wife, Hazel, of Quitman; two daughters, Kaye F. Stephens and her husband, Jerry, and Mary Cooper and her husband, Billy, all of Quitman; four sisters, Gladys Robinson, Bertie M. LaBeff, Jewel Thompson and her husband, Edsel, and Bonnie Beddingfield, all of Meridian; one brother, Gene Davidson, and his wife, Jemi, of Meridian; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed, her mother, two sons, William "Bill" Shirley and Roger Shirley, and two sisters, Margaret Risher and Louise Fuller.
Visitation will be today from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be:Jimmy Ford, William Shirley Jr., Ben Shirley, Dan Shirley, Todd Davidson and Tommy Davidson. Honorary pallbearer will be J.C. McElroy.
BETTIE GRADY
Human Resources worker
Services for Bettie Grady will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Grady of San Jose, Calif., died, Saturday, June 16, 2001 in San Jose.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Grady Clark, and her mother, Nezree Hunter, both of Meridian.
She was preceded in death by a son, Eric Grady.
Visitation will be today from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
NORRIS NICHOLS
Memorial services for Norris Nichols will be held Monday at 4 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Cemetery in Whynot.
Mr. Nichols, 70, died Thursday, May 24, 2001, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a former resident of Whynot. He was a veteran of Korea, serving in the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews; and many friends in the Meridian area.
BOBBY L. NOFIRE
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. Services for Bobby L. Nofire will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Reed-Culvert Funeral Home.
Mr. Nofire, 56, of Tahlequah, died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at W.W. Hastings Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Nofire-Trayal and her husband, Chris, a son, Wilfred J. Nofire, and a grandson, Clay Trayal, all of Meridian; his mother, Callie Ferrell and step-father, Jess, and a brother, Earl Ferrell, all of Tahlequah; a sister, Pat Brown of Shepardsville, Ky.; a sister, Diana Shrum of Tulsa, Okla.; a special friend, Betty of Tahlequah; several nieces, nephews and many friends he had when living in Meridian.
VARNELL L. HERSEY
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home for Varnell L. Hersey, 59, of Lauderdale, who died Thursday, June 21, 2001, at his home.
ELIZABETH IRBY
Arrangements were incomplete at Clark's Memorial Funeral Home for Elizabeth Irby, 87, of the Sandflat Community, who died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in Los Angeles.
OLLIE MAE PICKENS
Arrangements were incomplete at E.E. McDonald Funeral Home for Ollie Mae Pickens, 54, of Meridian and formerly of Collinsville, who died Thursday, June 21, 2001, in her home.
