EMCC to hold Keyes Currie reunion
All former players, managers and assistant coaches are invited to attend East Mississippi Community College's reunion in honor of coach Keyes Currie on June 30 at 10 a.m. on the Scooba campus.
Currie coached men's basketball for 32 years at the college. The current EMCC men and women's basketball gym is named in his honor.
The June 30 reunion will take place in the East Room of the EMCC Cafeteria. A nominal fee will be charged for lunch. For more information about the reunion, please call the EMCC president's office at 662-476-5060 or call Max Johnson at 662-456-2628.
EMCC to begin sports hall of fame
East Mississippi Community College will honor former coaches and athletes with a newly-formed Sports Hall of Fame, announced Nick Clark, director of institutional development and alumni affairs.
Each year, the hall of fame will recognize five former coaches or athletes who've made a major contribution to inter-collegiate athletics while attending East Mississippi Community College/Junior College. The inaugural candidates will be inducted during homecoming festivities, to be held October 20.
For a nomination form, please call the president's office at (662) 476-5060. Nomination requirements for an sthlete are he/she must have attended EMCC for at least one semester and have been out of EMCC for at least five years. Coach nominees must have been out of EMCC for three years. Deadline for returning nominations is August 1.
Night tourney slated for Decatur CC
Decatur Country Club will sponsor a Moonlight Two-person select golf tournament on June 16.
The 18-hole tournament will begin at 5 p.m.
The fee is $50 per team, and includes a meal, mulligans, and one night ball.

The East Central Mississippi Individual Tournament is set for June 23-24 at the Decatur Country Club. The tournament format will be true stroke play.
The tee times will be at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., and the entry fee is $25 per person.

USAT names Sunfish Triathlon
Southeast Regional Club Championship
The 15th-annual Sunfish Summer Trlathlon, to be held Saturday, July 7, has been named the Southeast Regional Club Championship by USA Triathlon. Triathletes will begin the one-half mile swim at 7 a.m. in Okatibbee Lake, bike 34K, then finish with an 8K run.
All three legs of the race begin and end in the same area making it an excellent spectator venue. The triathlon is sponsored by the Meridian Athletic Association (MAA).
